QuickBooks is a common tool, but it’s not the only one finance professionals use. Tell us about which tools you use the most and the difficulty you had in learning them👇
I learned and implemented Xero as the accounting software for the large scale farming operation that employs me. We also utilize Dext as the platform where employees with spending privileges submit their receipts. All financial documents for the farm are directed to it and the software reads the receipts and fills in most of the transactions for us, I review for correctness and publish it to Xero through a direct API. I felt we had utilized Xero really well, and adapted it to grain inventory management quite well (no small feat) but Dext I always felt had more to offer as a software but because of my lack of training with it and lack of time to pursue the training it was underutilized. Also, we had all our suppliers trained to email all bills and receipts to a specific address from which I'd review and forward them to Dext. I'm sure there were ways I could have utilized Outlook more efficiently to automate the process and save myself time.
