THE DERBY CITY CLASSIC!
Steve’s built something rare out in Indiana — a true players’ haven where grit meets grace. He’s taken a local scene and turned it into a destination: crisp organization, tables that play true, and an atmosphere that draws competitors who want to be tested and fans who want to feel every shot. From the first rack to the final break, Steve’s attention to detail and relentless hustle set the tone — this tournament doesn’t just run, it earns respect every year. The rail was full, the refs were sharp, and the energy stayed high because Steve made it a place where players know they’ll get a fair shake and a real challenge. 2026 Derby City Classic Champions & Top Finishers - 9-Ball Banks Champion: Fedor Gorst - One Pocket Champion: Tony Chohan - 9-Ball Champion: Fedor Gorst - Bigfoot 10-Ball Challenge Champion: Shane Van Boening - All-Around Champion (Master of the Table): Fedor Gorst  Key Performers & Notable Finishes - Fedor Gorst: Continued his dominance, winning the Banks and 9-Ball divisions, and making a deep run in One Pocket. - Sky Woodward: Finished in the top 3 in the One Pocket division. - Justin Hall: Reached the finals in the One Pocket division. - Shane Van Boening: Bigfoot Champion, also a top contender in One Pocket. - Notable Players in High-Level Brackets: Lee Vann Corteza, Roberto Gomez, Roland Garcia, Alex Pagulayan, and John Morra were listed as remaining in deep rounds (e.g., 9-Ball/One Pocket).  2026 Event Context - Location: Caesars Southern Indiana. - Format: The 2026 One-Pocket division changed to a 3-hour match time limit. - Final Rounds: The event concluded with final, high-stakes matches on Sunday, February 1, 2026.

Lemme tell you something, kid… I’ve seen a lot of matches in a lot of smoky rooms, but what Joshua Filler did to SVB tonight? That’s the kind of thing folks are gonna be whisperin’ about long after the felt gets changed. Shane walked in lookin’ like Shane always does — calm, coiled, ready to break the world in half with that thundercrack of his. But Filler? Man, Filler had that glint. You know the one. The look a man gets when he’s already run the racks in his head and he’s just showin’ you the replay. From the first shot, you could feel it. Filler wasn’t playin’ the table — he was commanding it. Cue ball danced for him like it owed him rent. Patterns so clean you could’ve framed ’em. And every time SVB tried to claw back a little rhythm, Filler just stepped in, cool as a winter breeze, and said, “Nah… not tonight.” And the room felt it. That hush. That electricity. That moment when everybody realizes they’re watchin’ something special — the kind of gear only a handful of players in history ever find. By the time Filler closed it out, Shane wasn’t beaten — he was witness to a man in full flight. And trust me, there ain’t no shame in that. When Filler hits that stride, you don’t stop him. You just sit back, sip your drink, and appreciate the storm. So yeah… folks’ll talk about this one. They’ll say they saw the night The Killer reminded the world exactly who he is.

"RAISING YOUR GAME TO THAT NEXT LEVEL ISN'T ABOUT SHOOTING A MILLION BALLS. IT'S ABOUT USING A MORE TARGETED APPROACH TO HOW YOU TRAIN AND WHAT SHOTS YOU NEED TO WORK ON." Tor Lowry

After watching that, what new understanding do you walk away with, and in what ways will you use that understanding in your practice time? I walk away pondering at what point should I consider moving past the fundamental basics and starting further along in the curriculum when working with a new player... there is never a point in any part of life where you dont have more to learn. Keep your mind, eyes, and ears open to the possibility and you will miss less... Both balls, and lessons.

Welcome Loren, Joseph, and Kris to the ranks! What parts of your game have you seen the most improvement since starting and in what areas do you want to focus on learning?

@Kris Keigley It's not their fault they were clones... too bad they didnt have a skool community to ask! Do you have a preshot routine? Did you know that until you've focused on a specific spot for 3 seconds, your eyes dont truly lock on that point. Hows your form? Is your line good? These are the important factors for aim plus more. If you send me a couple photos from in front of you while in your stance up the line of the cue I'll let you know if your line is good.
