I started a new hand forged chef knife. This one is going to be a hidden tang construction forged out of 1084 carbon steel. So far, I’ve just hammered out the rough profile
Burn fitting has become a kind of controversial way to fit the handle of a knife. But the only time I see it being a problem is when you’re doing a hidden tang construction which is only secured with glue, no pin, which isn’t a great way to do it anyways. So I use burn fittings for almost all my knife projects.
I just finished my latest project! It’s a through tang takedown construction chef knife made of 1084 carbon steel and hickory wood with a forge finish on the blade and wood burning design in the handle. This was an interesting one for me because it was my first time doing this style of an S grind and also my first time doing a steel bolster. Really happy with how it came out!
