Improving even with injuries
Been dealing with a sprain on my wrist for the last couple weeks. Although I cant lift weights or turn my wrist I still try to improve on other areas like my nutrition coach journey. Typing notes, taking courses, and dealing with real life experiences to further enhance my knowledge to help everyone out with general nutrition and making weight is one of my dream careers that I intend on succeeding in. Anyway to improve and to be 1% better everyday is what I strive for! 💯

Fourth Fight. More to Learn
Fought last night and it was in amazing experience. I walked in with good nerves and was excited to be in the ring again. Didn’t get the win, but I’m proud of the fight and grateful for what I learned. In the second round I started to gas out, and even though my coaches asked, I tried to play it off to stay in that fighter mindset. That’s something I’m locking in for the next one. My opponent applied a lot of pressure, and instead of turning him or creating angles, I tried to match his pressure. That’s another big focus moving forward. Thank you to everyone who supports me. Heading back to Vegas ready to get back to work.

War in Waco
One more loss for the record, but my love for getting hit and hitting people grows everyday and after every fight, if I can learn my lessons in the amateur and improve as a fighter every time I enter the ring then I was playing the game the right way. Shoutout to my team, shoutout to my coaches and every single person who’s ever given me an ounce of support, we’ll be back yet again, win or lose my head is held high and I am obsessed with fighting. Let’s go unlv boxing!

The Boot
I injured my Achilles a while ago (over 6 months). I continued to run, do sprints, jump rope, spar, etc. It didn’t hurt much while I was active on it, but it caused me to hobble while walking, and it throbbed throughout the day and night. I just accepted the pain and hoped it wouldn’t get worse. I finally used better judgement this past week. What motivated me was the upcoming annual Las Vegas Masters tournament. It is taking place in late February, and since I was staying in shape, and would have plenty of time for a full training camp, I became inspired for it. However, knowing the extra boost I would put myself through during training camp forced me to have my Achilles checked to find out if it was just a nagging pain I could continue to put up with, or if something more severe was happening. I had an MRI and it showed I have a 50% tear. My doc instructed me to wear my walking boot full time for the next 2 months. He warned me of the potential for it to “snap”, which would result in surgery, having to use a scooter, rehab, and a lot longer lay off. So, the boot is now part of my regular wardrobe. No running, jumping, sparring. I will have to develop a different routine to stay active. I don’t do much weight training, so I can do that (getting stronger and having more muscles to show off doesn’t sound that bad 😁). I definitely want to keep doing ab work, core, and stretching. I’ll try to shadow box and do bag work, but not sure how well that will go wearing the boot and not standing on even ground. My main concern is not running because that is how I maintain my cardio. As a former long distance runner, I’ve had my share of foot injuries that have put me on the shelf for a couple months, and I’ve come back from them well, but it still sucks to be injured and out of the routine, and worried that you will lose something when you start again. Well, for those of you who read this, thanks for being a sounding board for me. I’ll wear the boot, develop a different routine to help keep my body & mind strong, and hope to still make it into Fight Capital to stay connected to the community. It will be tough to be there and not do all the boxing activities, but it will also be nice to not get punched in the face either 🥴🥊
