For the 99% of business owners who want AI in their business and have no idea where to start. Small business owners and solopreneurs welcome.

For people who are brand new to AI. Real tools, real workflows, zero jargon. Taught by a non-technical founder who figured it out too.

15 contributions to AI Made Simple
No question is too basic in here. Go.
This category is open and I mean it. What's a prompt. What's the difference between Claude and ChatGPT. Why does it make stuff up. Is the free version good enough. Which one should I even start with. How do I stop it sounding like a robot. What's an API and do I need to care. Ask it. Nobody in here is going to make you feel behind for starting at the beginning, and that includes me, because I started at the beginning too and there was nobody to ask. I'll answer every single one. And listen, if you've been sitting on a question for weeks because it felt too dumb to type out loud, that is exactly the one I want. Somebody else is wondering the same thing and is too nervous to go first. Go first.

A decent thumbnail in about five minutes, free
You do not need a design degree and you do not need to pay anybody. What I actually do: Open Canva, free account is fine. Search the template for whatever you're making, YouTube thumbnail, Instagram post, whatever. Pick a plain one, not a busy one. Then swap three things and only three things. The words. The photo. The colors, to yours. Rules that took me too long to learn. Six words maximum, and they should be readable on a phone from across the room. One bright color, not five. A real face beats a stock graphic almost every time. And if you want the words to be better, ask AI first: Give me 10 options for text on a thumbnail. The video is about (topic). Max 6 words each. Make them make somebody curious, not clickbait. I'm talking to (who). Pick the one that makes you a little uncomfortable. That's usually the one. Make one this week and post it here. Rough is fine. Rough and posted beats perfect and sitting in a folder.

Steal this: turn a brain dump into something you can actually send
You know the thing where you know what you want to say, you say it out loud fine, and then you sit down to write it and nothing comes out right? Stop writing. Start dumping. Open a voice-to-text note or just type badly on purpose. Get every thought out in whatever order it falls. Spelling doesn't matter. Then paste the mess in with this: Below is a messy brain dump. I know what I want to say, I just can't organize it. Turn this into a clean (email / post / proposal section / SOP). Keep my actual words and phrasing wherever you can, because it should still sound like me. Do not add anything I didn't say. If something's missing or unclear, ask me instead of filling it in yourself. Here it is: (paste your mess) That last instruction is the important one. Without it you get back something polished and confident that includes things you never said, and you won't catch it because it reads well. This is the prompt I use most. Try it on the thing sitting in your drafts folder right now.

What an agent actually is, in plain English
Everybody throws the word agent around like you're supposed to already know what it means. I didn't know either. Here's the way I finally got it. Regular AI is like texting a really smart friend. You ask, they answer, and then they go back to their life. Nothing happens until you text again. An agent is like hiring somebody. You tell them the job once, you tell them what they're allowed to touch, and then they go do it whether or not you're standing there. That's the whole difference. One waits for you. The other one works. A real example from my week. Every morning at 6:30 there's a document sitting there telling me what's on my calendar, what came in overnight that matters, and the one thing I should do first. I didn't write it. I don't ask for it. It just shows up, because I hired something to do it once. You don't need one of these on day one. But when the same task shows up every week and you're sick of it, that's the one to hand over. What's the task that shows up every single week for you? Name it in the comments. That's your first agent.

Ten minutes in Custom Instructions changes every answer after it
If you're retyping the same background about yourself into ChatGPT every single time, stop. There's a place to put it once. It's in Settings, under Personalization, called Custom Instructions. Two boxes. It reads both of them before every answer you ever get. BOX ONE is who you are. Something like: I run a (what you do) business. My customers are (who). I'm not technical. I'm usually working on (the things that eat your week). BOX TWO is how you want it to answer. Something like: Give me the answer first, then the explanation. Use plain language, no jargon. If you don't know something or you're guessing, say so. Keep it short unless I ask for detail. That's it. Ten minutes, one time, and every answer from then on is closer to useful without you doing anything. Claude has the same thing, it's called Preferences. Same idea, same payoff. Go fill yours in and drop a comment telling me what you put in box two. I want to steal the good ones.
