Happy Canada Day!
Canada Day Fun Facts Official Birthday: While Canada became a country on July 1, 1867, with the passing of the Constitution Act, it was originally called Dominion Day. It was officially renamed to Canada Day in 1982. The Longest Coastline: Canada has the longest coastline in the world, measuring approximately 243,042 kilometers. If you were to walk the entire length without stopping, it would take you roughly 30 years. National Symbols: The maple leaf became the central feature of the national flag in 1965, but the beaver was granted official status as a national symbol of Canada in 1975. Geographic Scale: Canada is the second-largest country in the world by total area. It is so vast that it encompasses six different time zones. The Name's Origin: The name Canada comes from the St. Lawrence Iroquoian word kanata, which means village or settlement. Jacques Cartier used the word to describe the area around present-day Quebec City. Coldest Temperature: The coldest temperature ever recorded in North America was at Snag, Yukon, on February 3, 1947, reaching -63°C. National Dish: While poutine is often cited as a quintessential dish, Canada has no officially legislated national food. However, it is widely considered the culinary emblem of the country. The Number Of Lakes: Canada is home to more lakes than the rest of the world combined, with an estimated 879,800 lakes covering about 9 percent of the country's surface area. Bilingual Status: Canada has two official languages, English and French, as mandated by the Official Languages Act of 1969. The Peace Tower: The Peace Tower in Ottawa, which stands at the center of the Parliament buildings, contains a carillon of 53 bells, the largest of which weighs over 10,000 kilograms.

Staycation / accountability
Hi, y'all. Hat tip to @Sherilyn Isaac for accountability buddy greatness. It's a long weekend in BC, Canada and as such, my business work has come to a complete halt until, realistically, next Wednesday. As an autist, I hate it when this happens because it means there is another disruption to my beautifully curated calendar and potential furthering of opportunities which are like plates spinning in the air. One of my biggest challenges as an entrepreneur is to embrace the damn holidays and do something (several things?) that I would enjoy rather than just work "extra" or what I "have to do." Plus, let's be honest, I've been working my behind off in recent weeks. So... I am hereby declaring that I have fulfilled all of my obligations for the week and am taking a staycation. In said staycation, I'm going to eff off and rest a lot, but the accountability piece is this: Jenine needs to make some damn art! So, there you have it. You now know that I sometimes (often) drag my feet on creative things that don't make money and that is my big "to-do" for the long weekend. I pledge to get off my butt and make some stuff, make a mess, get into the flow of my creative process with my hands and paper and paint and sewing machine. I'll post on Tuesday to show you some things I have made. (See how I put myself on notice there?! Yeah, I appreciate you!) Feel free to pledge and post here or not. Either way, hugs and kittens from Nelson, BC, Canada. ❤️ Jenine
