Finding people in specific cities
What's up guys. Looking to see if anyone has any little tips or insights on a more efficient way to do this. So I'll be traveling around the country this year. I know a few people in Houston, NY, Miami, on & on, but to make the most of my time in these places I'm trying to make as many connections in each big city I'll be in as possible. My way of trying to do this so far has just been to go to either the people I already know, or the pages/posts for places I know are relevant to each city, going through followers/commenters & hitting up people I might want to connect with that look like they're from there. This is quite inefficient lol. It works, but I feel like there has to be a better way or ways I can at least improve what I'm doing. Typically for stuff like this my first go-to is Instagram because the messaging is smoother on there & usually I feel you can get more information about people on their IG pages than others, so I'll probably continue utilizing IG for this the most although they've recently made it more difficult to make new connections by allowing accounts to limit strangers to 1 request message like linkedin, as I'm sure you've all noticed. Any tips or ideas on how to improve this process in any way, or ideas on other ways to achieve this expanding network goal would be much appreciated. Thanks, ~ D

Why no scheduled events?
Will the AMA's & whatnot be coming back at all or no?

Need any help with your music career at the moment?
Hey everyone, we're planning our content for YouTube video, podcasts and community in the coming months. 1. Is there anything you are especially curious to learn about or understand more deeply this year? 2. Is there anything in particular you need help with at the moment?

I already commented but they go together, I would like to hear more about naritives. How to think about them, create them from your own story, push them/put them into the minds of whoever's watching, & also differentiate yourself from whoever may have a similarities in naritives.

@Constantin Zieseniss damn I didn't notice that until now. I was in the original BMN, was off it for awhile, when I came back they moved it to here so I got on there & it still wasn't no spam, but now I just joined this foreverfan & am seeing it. maybe because they got it open for just a dollar for the first month rn? idk they were always really good at keeping it solid in the past.
Peace
My Name Is Mikey, I’ve been Audio Engineering for quite sometime now & wanted to get involved more with the business side of things. Peace to the community and chat!

What's good bro. How long/what kind of music do you mostly work on? Cool to see someone who's strictly an engineer in here, I don't think there's too many engineers by discipline on BMN. My name is D, I'm not specifically an engineer but I've had to become one for myself & the artists I developed & produced. Got good enough at it to work in a studio for awhile 🤷‍♂️ I actually do enjoy it, I enjoy the science of sound (why I build/design studios on the side) so I'm sure we could have some good conversations about it lol.
Distributors
Don’t read a lot in this space about the distributors. I looked at them a few years back and went with Tunecore. Lots of folks with Distrokid who is entering into a merge(?) with Bandzoogle. What about United Masters? Anybody with an opinion about which is best or does it matter who you pick?

@David Mysliwiec United Masters is different. Distrokid is am aggregator. They just get your music to DSPs for a fee. UM if I'm not mistaken is more like an actual distribution deal (to some extent). They do more. Placements, sync deals, they have relationships they leverage for artists to do things like get your songs in video games, etc. I don't know what they advertise at the moment, this is rough memory of when I researched them years ago so don't take my word alone for the details but speaking to the difference, UM isn't just a service provider, that's a deeper contract.

Told my family I quit my $35hr job. Gimme 12 months to pay rent w/ music or I'll quit to be a firefighter, so here goes everything. #RAPMONEYMISSION💰
