Understanding anatomy is #1 goal as an artist who wants to create their own characters. AI is great at rendering surfaces. But stylized animation and games reward artists who understand anatomy and structure. You can’t fake form. You have to build it.

The male and female human anatomy are drawn differently because the underlying structure is different. The skeleton, pelvis width, shoulder span, muscle mass, and fat distribution all vary on average - and those structural differences affect proportion, balance, silhouette, and gesture. If you understand the structure, you can draw and stylize each form intentionally instead of just adding or subtracting curves. Here are some studies of mine:
