Day 24
I am fully responsible for everything in my life. A had a client paralysed by shame today. He was relapsing on an addiction of his and would always keep it to himself because it hurt him to think about how he would be judged. But as a coach, I had a unique opportunity to help. I challenged him to tell me what happened in detail, and coached him through the process with some loving pressure. That's something most medical or psychological professionals aren't licenced to do. After that exercise I could tell he felt much lighter; after all, he'd never told anyone that before. What we do here is invaluable to our clients. Keep going. Much love, Jeevan
Friend Having Trouble Joining EC
I need help from the EC community! A good friend of mine who is a learning coach has been requesting to join this community, but his request has been declined a couple times. He has just joined Skool in the past month so that might be why his account may have been judged to be illegitimate. @Ed JC Smith and anyone else, please let me know how he can join!
Day 23
I am responsible for everything in my life. Gratitude is the biggest hack in mental health. One of my clients was a "glass half full" person his whole life. I told him to try a gratitude practice and he needed to send me a new message every day. "I am grateful for X because of Y....." was the format. He said that it has completely changed his outlook in just the last week. The practice each morning sets a positive tone for the day, and rereading old entries reminds him of how much abundance he truly has. Gratitude is a neurological circuit that can be reinforced just like any other. This way you truly can harness neuroplasticity to rewire your brain to see the positivity in all scenarios. The small things really do count. Much love, Jeevan
Day 22
I am fully responsible for everything in my life. The reframe that I made this afternoon created a permanent transformation in my mind. We are invested in our clients and their progress. It hurts when they stumble and take a step back. We worry that we haven't done enough and that we've failed as coaches. But wouldn't you want them to stumble now, whilst you're there to support them? If they couldn't stay accountable to their tasking, it's probably because of a very strong belief or circumstance. If it didn't happen during your coaching sessions, it probably would've come up at some point down the line. But at that point, they wouldn't have your support. So you actually want them to fail as much as possible, so you can take those learnings and equip them to avoid those pitfalls when they are out there by themselves. The challenges they face are what drives the honing of their skills and their beliefs. Failure is necessary for success, so we shouldn't feel upset when our clients take a step backward. We need to leave our desires at the door and help our clients to find the learning lessons. We can do it, and become great coaches. Much love, Jeevan
Day 21
I am fully responsible for everything in my life. Good things take time. The impact we want to make for our clients take time. Growth isn't linear and the best things in life require consistent time and effort. It's the consistency over time that really counts. There will be week-to-week variation up and down. It's easy to think "that wasn't a great session" But we need to think on a macro rather than micro scale. Are your clients better off than when you foind them? Invariably the answer is yes. Do they know more about themselves than they did before? Definitely yes. Those small improvements are priceless. The impact of those changes that you've helped them create will grow and compound over time. These changes may seem small now, but they are life-changing moments when they look back in 10 years. Don't ever underestimate the impact you make. Much love, Jeevan
