Help 🙏
I'm from Russia, I want to become a commercial diver, I'm looking for a school now all over the world to get an IDSA certificate.Norway refused me because I can't even get a visa to study. Greece doesn't answer me for a long time, and I really want to become a commercial diver, I realized this when I dived 55 dives, but there I just looked at beautiful corals and big fish, and now I want to do something unusual than just watch.

Hi Anton, as I mentioned in the DM message to you, there's schools dotted all around the world that will give you the right qualifications. Your bottle neck is the Visa situation. Jump on the IDSA website and make a list of all the countries there is schools you're willing to go to, then start researching visa requirements for each until you find one that you can get. Most likely you don't need a study visa. Check the course duration and if it's less than 12 weeks, most likely you can do it on a tourist visa.

Without knowing what you asking them, I cant be much help. IDSA isn't a school, it'sa membership organisation that schools become members of. Have you tried asking AI? If you tell it what you want to do, where you are coming from, and the issues you're having, it may be able to direct you on a pathway that could help? I would say it's the best resource for seeing the bigger picture and refining the information best suited to your personal circumstances
Introduction
Hello everyone, and thanks for bringing me into this group! I'm one year into my career as a commercial diver and located in Vancouver Island, Canada. I have my DCBC Unrestricted surface supply diver certification, and my IMCA DMT. I've spent the past year doing freelance work all over Canada, mostly construction, but also dabbled in aquaculture and harvesting. Before completing my dive course I had over 10 yrs experience in different sectors of onshore oil and gas including drilling rigs, pipelines, and plant construction. I also spent a couple years instructing scuba diving abroad when oil crashed on 2016. While I've been keeping busy and enjoying my inshore diving career, I'd love to get back to my oil and gas rutes and head offshore! Looking forward to making some connections within this group and making that jump when the time is right!

Welcome to the group, Chris. That’s a solid foundation you’ve got there. Having oil and gas experience is a massive advantage when you're looking to transition offshore. It’s a different beast than inshore construction or aquaculture, but the industry always needs guys who already understands the work culture and safety standards. Glad to have you in here. Looking forward to seeing you get that offshore start.
Job Opportunity: Offshore Air Diving Roles - Nigeria

Introduction
Good day to everyone in the diving community! My name is Ruan Fick, I am a South African Navy diver with 4 years diving experience (SCUBA and SSDE) transitioning into the commercial sector. I am currently busy doing my Class IV, III, II and DMT. Upon completion of my training I would love to get remote work and preferably start my offshore career.(After completing my offshore survival etc.) I would love to get some feedback of people who has been working as commercial divers, on how to transition from inshore to offshore without wasting valuable time. Thank you to the people who have created this platform for people in this industry, your work is highly valued. Please feel free to contact me on email or on this platform: ruan.fick00@gmail.com

Hey Ruan, welcome to the group. It's quite a common crossover coming from the navy. I think there's a few ex-services guys here from all around the world. Usually I would say getting offshore requires a few years inshore experience. Obviously in your case you dont need the diving experience, but the actual working experience like doing construction is necessary. I'd say get your tickets, including DMT, then get some inshore work (aim for larger companies that focus on construction) and use that to build your CV out while you start applying to offshore companies. It may take a while but you'll get there.

Hi everyone. I am based in Western Australia, new to the industry. Got ADAS part 3 mid last year and been hopping between doing onshore diving, and boiley work in the mines since then. Looking to see what's happening in the wider dive community, thanks for the add 👍

Welcome to the group Giovanni. Quite a few people here in WA and also plenty of jobs floating about in the global industry. FYI - There's a useful map feature next to the classroom tab to help you connect with other crew in your area.
