For people with kids...also saw a Facebook group " Expat Families in Paraguay - Share & Connect" some posters, they mention looking for friends for their kids "children 12 and 14 years . We speak dutch, english and german..." it's a public group for anyone interested...
Iguazu falls
Have you guys been to Iguazu falls yet? I had a recent trip. Well worth going, beautiful and amazing. Like 275 waterfalls or something. I enjoyed both the Brazil and Argentina sides of the falls and would do both again when i am there next. What did you guys think?

### What is Your True Currency in an Uncertain World?
Hi everyone, I came across a video that poses a provocative question: In a major systemic collapse, where our current financial and food systems fail, what becomes the real currency for survival? The video argues it's not money, but tangible goods and practical skills—things like food, medicine, fuel, and the knowledge to heal, build, and grow. This got me thinking on a deeper level, moving beyond "prepping" to resilience and community. I'd love to hear your perspective. Let's exchange not from fear, but from wisdom: 1. The "What": If you had to choose, what ONE practical skill (e.g., fermenting, herbal first aid, seed saving, small engine repair) do you believe would be your most valuable asset, and why? 2. The "Who": Beyond goods and skills, what human qualities (e.g., trust, cooperation, storytelling, conflict resolution) would become the true "currency" of a new community? 3. The "Now": How can we start building that resilience today? Is it by learning to grow a kitchen herb garden, forming a local skill-share group, or simply strengthening bonds with our neighbors? This isn't about doomsday; it's about rediscovering the foundational elements of a sustainable life. Our collective knowledge is the most valuable resource we have. Watch the video here if you're curious: [The One Currency That Will Decide Who Survives After Collapse] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nP3N78WluM What are your thoughts? What is your "true currency"?

Thanks to @Emil Moldovan for posting this video...very nice low key introduction to the topic. I enjoyed/benefited from the discussions here. Particularly the points about trust/cooperation regarding 1) "the Who" 🎼 made by @Anca Moldovan ...I read I think that you 2 are a couple...just saying, I liked your repartee. As to point 2 "the what"...as a couple...I think my husband's engineering skills are our best practical skill/valuable asset/s. Regarding "the now"...good practical recommendation were given....for myself/ we have already have taken steps on this path with regards to skills development over the years...we keep at it though...however I'm personally happiest to hear about the idea on putting together a group or strengthening neighbor ties for point 3. I had already started a "prepping " website a few years ago and made some videos to help others...as well as to try and use it to seek out some like-minded persons...it is off to the side at the moment though. Final thoughts...If there is a collapse or war starts... I'm sure there will be chaos for a period of time...but eventually division of labor should return...though the world might be very different. As Ben Franklin said, "Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst". Anyways, if anybody is interested in a movie that encapsulates how things might look like in the beginning of a collapse I recommend a big screen movie from 1996 the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Trigger_Effect

Hello guys/gals, I'm Jeanette, nice to meet you all. I was looking into Paraguay for a few months last year, I'm presently living in Chile for a number of years. This group is interesting to me since (like some of you) I am into natural health, alternative medicine, gardening, putting-by and general country-living etc. Not easy to discover people with these interests in online groups...that also have concerns that are motivating them to consider moving away from their first world countries, get other residencies, etc. ABOUT: Together with my husband (semi-retired) we do a lot of DIY projects, try to live a more self-sufficient lifestyle...semi-homesteading but together with lots of modern amenities though. I still work...which is part time in real estate and can do web design that he can program. We bought a fixer-upper property here, which is ongoing...but my husband made us a micro-hydo /water power set-up and we also have in addition to a gasoline generator... a wood-charcoal fueled generator for power back-up for when the grid is down for the short (long/future) term...which happens in my area quite a lot though sporadically. I'm still considering Paraguay for possibly business or a back-up plan...but not as urgent now since we will be getting a new president next month...which should improve on all of the back sliding that's been happening here the past few years. Anyways... Hello to a few people I noticed here from a different group I'm in. Also would welcome any discussion with those interested in the above mentioned topics :) I will post a pic below. Cheers
