The teacher you actually remember
When you were in high school or university, what was your favorite teacher? Was it the one with the best information or the most formal outfit? Or the one that always had their slides prepared? Or was it the one that was funny, showed their personality, inspired you with their life story and the things they'd actually been through? It was most likely the latter. And here's the thing that teacher probably didn't have the most credentials in the room. But you listened to every word they said. You showed up to their class. You remembered lessons from them years later. Why? Because they made you feel something. So what does this mean for your fitness coaching business? It means things like your personality, values, experiences, and lifestyle really do matter. Not only the education and authority that you actually have. The coach who only posts transformation results and macro breakdowns? People respect them. But they don't connect with them. The coach who shares that they used to hate going to the gym, that they built their physique while working a 9-5 they despised, that they still eat pizza on Fridays and wake up some mornings not wanting to train... that coach gets DMs. That coach gets referrals. That coach gets clients who say "I just feel like you get me." For people to buy from you, they need to know, like, and trust you. And liking you is a big factor. Most fitness coaches obsess over the trust and authority part: certifications, before-and-afters, client results. And those matter. But they neglect the like factor completely. Which is exactly why you feel stuck. Because, dude, there's so much about you that makes you unique: your quirks, your funny personality, the favorite shows you like to watch, things that really allow people to connect with you on a deeper level. So lifestyle, jokes, your unique personality is probably the best nurturing asset you can ever create for yourself. Don't neglect it. Start showing up like the teacher people actually remember.
