📚 Tonight’s Assignment: Watch Mexico vs. Czechia | Coaching Call Canceled
Instead of our coaching call tonight, we’re going to use the time to watch the Mexico World Cup match and begin developing one of the most important skills in soccer: Learning how to study the game. The best players don’t just play soccer. They watch, analyze, and learn from it. While watching the match, answer these 5 questions: 1. What does Mexico do immediately after losing possession? - Do they press? - Do they drop back? - Who reacts first? 2. How does Mexico build out from the back? - Which players get involved? - How do they create passing options? - What patterns do you notice? 3. What movements happen BEFORE a player receives the ball? - Check away and back? - Create space? - Scan their surroundings? 4. Where does Mexico win the ball most often? - Defensive third? - Middle third? - Attacking third? - Why do you think that happens? 5. Which player impressed you the most and why? - Be specific. - Don’t just say they scored. - What actions helped the team? Your Assignment: Comment below with your answers after the game. Even if you only answer 2-3 questions, I want everyone participating. The goal is not to be right. The goal is to start training your eyes to see the game differently. See you all in the comments after the match. 🇲🇽⚽️👀

WORLD CUP MATCH ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT Mexico vs. Czechia Elite Soccer Academy 24 (ESA24) OBJECTIVE The goal of this assignment is to begin developing your ability to watch soccer as a student of the game. Pay close attention to what happens both on and off the ball throughout the match. QUESTION 1 What does Mexico do immediately after losing possession? Observe the team's reaction within the first few seconds after losing the ball. Notes: - Do they press immediately? - Do they drop into a defensive shape? - Which players react first? - Is the reaction organized or individual? Answer: When Mexico loses the ball they quickly chase the ball and press aggressively. Especially the person who lost the ball, he is the one to get it back. QUESTION 2 How does Mexico build out from the back? Pay attention to goal kicks and moments when possession starts deep in their own half. Notes: - Which players get involved? - Where are the passing options? - What patterns do you notice? - How do they create space? Answer: Mexico builds out from the back by playing the outside backs to the wingers. QUESTION 3 What movements happen before a player receives the ball? Focus on what players do before they touch the ball. Notes: - Do they check away and back? - Do they create separation from defenders? - Are they scanning before receiving? - How do they position their body? Answer: Before the player gets the ball they scan while they unmarked from the opponent. They create a big gap from the defender. QUESTION 4 Where does Mexico win the ball most often? Watch for ball recoveries throughout the game. Notes: - Defensive third - Middle third - Attacking third - Why do you think they win it in those areas? Answer: Mexico always won the ball in the middle third QUESTION 5 Which player impressed you the most and why? Choose one player and explain your reasoning. 🚨 FRIDAY TRAINING CANCELED 🚨
Just a reminder that ALL Friday classes are canceled today. As mentioned earlier this week, players who normally train on Fridays may request to attend a Monday session instead. Approval is required before attending, so please reach out first. A few important reminders: ✅ Complete your Game Evaluation Form if you have not done so already. These evaluations help us understand what went well, what needs improvement, and what we should focus on in upcoming training sessions. ⚽ Continue watching the FIFA World Cup. Pay close attention to player movement, decision-making, scanning, first touch, defending, and how teams solve problems during the game. The best players are always students of the game. 📚 Use the extra time today to review community resources, complete any at-home work, and stay consistent with your development. Thank you all for your flexibility and understanding. We are looking forward to getting back on the field with everyone soon. - Coach Jessie

NEXT STOP: B LICENSE 📚⚽
As many of you may know, I recently completed my USSF C License. While I’m grateful for the accomplishment, I see it the same way I encourage all of our players to see their own soccer journey. A player doesn’t reach one level and stop. They move from recreational soccer to club soccer. From club soccer to higher levels of competition. From one challenge to the next. Every step prepares them for what comes next. Coaches are no different. Just as players move up the soccer pyramid, coaches must continue moving up the coaching pathway. The learning never stops. The goal is not to collect licenses. The goal is to become more knowledgeable, more effective, and better equipped to help players develop. The C License was one step in that process. The next step is the USSF B License. Most importantly, I want to thank every player and parent in our community for trusting us with your child’s development. That trust is something we never take lightly. Every course, every license, every hour spent learning is ultimately done with one goal in mind: providing a better experience and a higher level of coaching for the athletes we serve. The better we become as coaches, the better we can serve the players who trust us with their journey. For our players, let this be a reminder that growth is never finished. There is always another level to reach, another skill to learn, and another challenge to embrace. Keep climbing. 📈

Well said Coach!
WORLD CUP CAMP THIS SUMMER!! 🌎 🏆
ESA24 fam, I’m super excited to announce that I’ll be running my very FIRST CAMP EVER on July 11&12 at Azusa High School. We‘ll have two age groups: 8-10 years old & 11-13 years old. The camp is going to be World Cup themed. On Saturday we’ll be doing country-themed station work. Each station will be based on a different country and what that country is known for. For example, we’ll have a Brazil station where we’ll focus more on technical work, juggling, ball control, and creativity. We’ll have a Spain station where the focus will be more on passing, possession, and moving the ball the right way. There will be a lot of new drills we haven’t done before, so the kids are going to learn a lot of new things. Then on Sunday, we’re going to run a World Cup-style tournament with teams, a real tournament bracket, and some cool prizes to win. Every player will also receive an individual player rating based on their overall performance throughout the camp, so they’ll be able to see where they did well and what they can keep improving on. I haven’t made this public yet. You guys are the first ones hearing about it. The reason I wanted to tell you first is because you guys have been super loyal to me, and I want to give you the first chance to lock in a spot before I post it publicly. There will most likely only be 32 spots available because of the tournament format, so spots are going to be super, super limited. This will also be the first chance for players outside my paid group to train with me, so I’m expecting spots to fill up fast once it goes public. That’s why I’m giving ESA24 families the first 2 days to sign up before I announce everything on social media on Friday night. You guys also get 10% off with the code: ESA24FAM Secure your spot before it’s too late. Click Here ⬇️ WORLD CUP CAMP - REGISTRATION LINK

🚨 Elite Soccer Academy Staff Announcement 🚨
As Elite Soccer Academy continues to grow rapidly, it’s important that we continue building a strong team behind the scenes so every athlete continues receiving the attention, detail, and support they deserve. With that being said, I’m excited to officially welcome @Justin Eisenmann to the Elite Soccer Academy team. ⚽️ @Justin Eisenmann brings valuable experience from his playing background, including college soccer at Biola University — a rival school to Azusa Pacific University, where we built a lot of history competing against each other. He also spent time training in an academy environment in Germany. His experience, perspective, and willingness to help will be a great addition to what we’re building here at ESA. @Justin Eisenmann will primarily help with administrative and behind-the-scenes work within the academy. This is extremely important because it allows me to focus even more on coaching, player development, communication, and making sure every athlete continues receiving the right level of detail and care throughout their journey. He’s also always open to answering questions and supporting the growth of both the players and the community however he can. We also have something very exciting being worked on behind the scenes for the end of June 👀🌍 That’s all I’ll say for now… stay tuned. Welcome to the team, @Justin Eisenmann 💪
