I’m currently working on a Local Service-Based Business Market Discovery Survey, and I’d love to tap into the collective experience in this community before I take it into the real world. My goal is simple: Find the problems businesses are actually experiencing → understand what they’re already doing → identify where AI/automation could genuinely create value. I’m planning to survey service-based businesses in areas such as: • Landscaping / Home Services • Plumbing • Healthcare / Medical / Dental I’m exploring three potential areas: 1. Content Creation 2. Lead Generation 3. Online Reputation But I don’t want to go into the market assuming these are the problems businesses care about. I want the businesses themselves to tell me. So I’m asking for your experience and perspective: 1. If you were designing a survey to uncover the REAL problems a service-based business is experiencing, what questions would you absolutely include? 2. What questions would you avoid because they might lead the business toward a particular answer? 3. What would you ask to determine whether a business actually has a lead-generation problem? 4. What would you ask to determine whether content creation is genuinely a problem—or simply something we assume they need? 5. What questions would uncover whether online reputation/reviews are actually affecting the business? 6. Would you use mostly multiple-choice questions, short-answer questions, or a combination? Why? 7. If you could only ask 10 questions, how would you structure them? 8. What answers or patterns would you pay the most attention to when analyzing the results? 9. What would indicate that a problem is painful or valuable enough that a business might actually pay to solve it? 10. If you were in my position, what is the ONE thing you would make sure this survey accomplishes before building or selling anything? I’m trying to approach this market-first, not product-first. I don’t want to build something and then go looking for people who need it.
