Gamification Books
Hey everyone, I’m looking for a good read about gamification. (Specifically education) Any book ideas? Thanks!

If you don't mind reading a draft, I am working on my Book on my gamification Framework. I will write one solely on education, but first I'm getting the foundations: https://docs.google.com/document/d/130JHjBopfmOh_RoMlsPSQhktP_yM370a/edit Any feedback would be most welcome!
🤖 Can AI help design better communities?
@Amy Kim says yes—but only if you know what to look for. She’s using AI + game thinking to help founders map player journeys, test ideas faster, and even simulate interviews using synthetic personas 🤯 It’s not about skipping strategy. It’s about removing the grind so you can focus on what actually moves the needle—like designing for retention from day one. 👀 I’m super curious… Have you experimented with AI in your community-building workflow? Maybe to brainstorm, automate, plan content or test ideas? 👇 Drop your experience (or resistance!) below. Let’s learn from each other.]

Really interesting! I have been using AI to bounce and structure ideas, but not in terms of building community!
Genie got my wish wrong
How it works: 1. First person comments with a wish to the magic genie. ("I want to be filthy rich.”) 2. Next person replies with a broken way to grant the wish. Text or image/GIF are welcome (“You are kinda rich but extremely smelly all the time”) 3.The game keeps going with new wishes and fun ways to break the wish Rules: - Answers must be creative and ruin the wish - No repeating answers When you are finished playing, DM me "Mystery Gift" to collect your mystery gift.

@Lukas Schmidt all learning becomes fun so everyone creates course to the point of oversaturation. A "LearningPlayStore" is built by Apple where only some selected titles are showcase in the front page. A couple of people do millions of dollars, while most of your courses are only played but tens of players. Blizzard/Activision and EA become the lead companies in learning, killing independent instructional designers.

I’ve been quiet here for a bit — not because I gave up, but because I’ve been rebuilding. 𝘚𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. Starting this month, we’re back at it: 🔁 𝐓𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 🧠 𝐑𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬 🎯 𝐋𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲-𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞 I’m building this in real time. That means: • 𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘨𝘰 𝘱𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 • 𝘐 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵’𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘹𝘵 • 𝘛𝘰𝘨𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳, 𝘸𝘦 𝘣𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 (𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥 😉) 💬 What's 𝐎𝐍𝐄 thing that's not working for you interms of retention right now? @Rob Alvarez I'm thinking on how could I apply this principles on my board game publisher. Hope to see the videos soon!
🩴 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘂𝗿𝗲 taught 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?
I’m starting the week with a fresh episode—and a big reminder: ❌ The first game flopped. ✅ But that failure became the blueprint for 40+ educational games. In this new conversation, I spoke with Aldi Agaj, CEO of Alter Learning, about how a failed launch helped him build a system for long-term engagement and real-world classroom impact. His turning point? 🎯 Designing WITH scientists and teachers 🎮 Building experiences that last beyond onboarding 🎥 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 👇 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻: What’s something you launched that didn’t go as planned—but taught you something important about engagement or retention? Let’s share the lessons that made us better.
