Hi everyone! I am a Dutch GIS/Geo-ICT professional and I want to do something useful with my skill. I am here because I desire for Iran (and other countries) to be free from the grip of totalitarianism and Islam - and European countries including my own to stop being so naive. Perhaps there is something I can do to support this movement. Any ideas? I have some already but I would love to read yours To clarify what I do: I work with (geo)data - analyzing it, making applications (web, mobile, etc) and visualizing that - also in the form of maps. Those can be static maps that you can print or show on the screen, or interactive maps. I work as a freelancer so I choose my own projects and clients, so I have no one to ask permission from. My colleagues in the field are either silent about these topics because they either are not politically informed or they do not dare speak out, or (and I think this is most often the case) they are so blinded by Trump derangement syndrome that they automatically go against everything that comes from America (personally I think Trump is not perfect, no leader is - but I see that he's doing things that I wanted to happen for a long time and that a lot of change is happen, a lot I find good - and I hope with y'all that this change will include the freedom of the Iranian people). And I think there is a big group that just follows what's popular and adopts the current thing, looking around whenever they say something to see if they get approval, like pharisees. Now the biggest thing is to become 'sovereign' in terms of software and data from the USA. Everyone is talking about this, it's crazy. I am for limiting Big Tech (from USA or any other country) and for the open source movement, but now they are just in a mass movement, like scared lemmings, like rebelling children. I find it very sad, as I believe that us geographers and people in tech should do what's best for the people and not let us be captured by fear and woke leftist propaganda.
