I was getting tired of filming inside...
Took the studio outside today. Turns out the fretboard works the same in a park as it does in a bedroom. This is what the A/B Jam Method looks like on a simple 3-chord song — well, 4, because that last chord flips on you. (Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door") This isn't complicated. Two zones. Above the root, below the root. That's it. Once you see it, you can't unsee it — and you can jam over anything. What are YOU working on right now? Film it. Post it below. Let's see it. ⚡ Murph PS: The A/B Jam System is sitting in the classroom for $17. That’s about the same as two fancy Starbucks runs. If you want to stop sitting on the root and start moving, this does it.

Thanks Murph, the shapes are really clicking for me. One question: at about 3:16 you call the yellow area the major side, but the chart labels it “Below (minor).” When I mapped it out, the yellow area has the major 3rd and fits the major pentatonic with the 2 (9) added at the end, so I’m guessing the labels just got swapped, since the blue side reads as minor. Am I reading that right?

Hi mates, Jason from Los Angeles here. My music taste varies widely, but two of the bands that I listened to when I was younger were Rush and Red Hot Chili Peppers and their respective bassists Geddy Lee and Flea - I'd say those two got me interested in bass. But if I must name one bassist as a favorite, then I have to say Motown's James Jamerson.

I took private bass lessons for five years and have played music with friends but mostly work on learning songs or parts of songs.
