8-Week Legato Intensive Daily Accountability Check-In
This thread is optional, but it’s usually a very good idea to check in here once you’re done for the day. Consistency is everything in a program like this, and a simple public check-in helps a lot more than most people expect. How to check in Post a comment using this format: Week X - Day X completed Example: Week 1 - Day 3 completed That’s it. No explanations needed. Just mark the work done and move on with your day. Use this thread as your running log for the full 8 weeks.

The hardest part of practicing is starting. I made something for that.
So I just hit 27 exercises in The Practice Lab and I wanted to share it with you all because honestly it's gotten to a point where I'm pretty proud of it. For those who haven't seen it yet, it's basically a collection of focused technique exercises built around the same stuff I talk about all the time. Alternate picking, legato, string skipping, that kind of thing. Each one is designed to actually be practiced properly, not just noodled through. Right now it's completely free to access at practice-lab.jonbjorkmusic.com A couple of things before you dive in: - Start by reading the "Read Me" in the top right corner of the starting page. It'll make everything make a lot more sense. - If you're on mobile, turn your phone sideways. You'll get a better view with more info showing during each exercise. Worth mentioning before you go check it out. In the next few weeks it's going to move behind a paywall. It'll be available as a standalone purchase or as part of Pro, which if you're already a Pro member means you already have it covered. So if you want to check it out for free, now's the time. And if you find something useful in there I'd genuinely love to hear what you think. It's still in beta mode and feedback from you guys is actually useful to me at this stage. Anyway. Go have a look if you're curious. 🎸

Great and nice idea @Jon Bjork 👍
Week 7 is live in the Legato Intensive.
This is where things start to feel real. We’re taking the same concepts you’ve been working on and pushing them harder across the fretboard. The All Hammers this week are no joke, and the two-string and multi-string stuff will really test your timing and control. If you’ve been consistent up to this point, you’re going to feel the difference. If you’re not in yet, you can still jump in right now. It doesn’t matter that we’re in week 7. You start where you start and get to work. The results come from doing the work, not from when you joined. Head to the classroom and get started.

@Jon Bjork I really like All hammers from all weeks ... but this ... this one JON :D How did you say in the video ? :D something about HATE :D I spent more than hour to figure out all hammers w/o metronom so far :D but great, really great exercise
Week 5 is live!
I’m releasing this one early since I’ll be away for a few days. @Sergey S asked about Sunday drops, so this worked out well this time. I can’t promise every week will be on Sundays, but for now, here we go. Here’s what you’re working on this week: • A more challenging variation of the pentatonic combinations in All Hammers • A very important two-string exercise combining previous sequences to really build your timing • Multi-string groups of four using pentatonics, plus a diminished variation for the neoclassical fans The two-string section in particular is where things get real. If your timing isn’t solid, it will show. If you lock it in, your legato phrasing and improvising will feel much more controlled. The pentatonic and diminished work ties everything together and pushes your fretboard control further. Get into it. See you in week 6.
