The purpose of off-grid life.
Off-grid living isn’t about escaping society. It’s about choosing what matters. It’s choosing: • Fewer bills • More skills • A slower, more intentional pace • Useful work • More capability • Systems you understand and control Off-grid life trades convenience for capability—and that trade looks different for everyone. When things break, you don’t call a number. You figure it out. And that changes how you see yourself. People live off grid not because it’s easy—but because it’s honest. Your effort has a direct result. Your comfort matches your preparation. Your time belongs to you again. Off-grid life trades convenience for clarity. Less noise. More intention. A life that makes sense when you slow down enough to live it. That’s why people do it. What originally pulled you toward off-grid living—and has that reason changed over time?

I just had to deal with my third rental house house issue, with another incompetent "handyman" . The owner of my house refuses to hire professionals. Not only would we rather fix things ourselves, we wouldn't have any of these problems, like plumbing if we used an outhouse haha
Welcome to the off-grid collective
Hey friend - you found the tribe! We're so glad you're here. This is where modern humans remember old ways, and ordinary folks become self-reliant legends 💪 This is your space to connect, learn, and stay accountable as you work toward your off-grid goals- whatever stage that you're in. Whether you're still dreaming, halfway there, or already living it - you belong here. We're building a space where you can: ✨Learn, share, and laugh about all things bees, tallow, and homemade. ✨Swap recipes, ideas, and stories from the homestead ✨Find folks who love rustic living as much as we do! Step 1: Introduce Yourself -in the comments below, share: 1. Where you're joining from 2. Your off-grid or homesteading dreams or goals 3. One small project you're working on, or want to start "If you had to live off ONE thing on the homestead....what would it be..."

In dreaming and trying to decide if I want to go off grid just to be debt free or find a homestead with a very small but live able home on land and have a bit of debt to at least have something to live in while we build a better home. I'm mold sensitive, so I'm tempted to go completely off grid and do a tent for bit to avoid a potentially moldy house I'm curious what other reasons people go fully off grid other than just money I have 4 kids 12,9,6,3 , so keeping up with dishes and laundry is a question haha
