​Why Christians Participate in Lent? ❤️ ​Lent is a season of preparation. Just as we prepare our homes for a guest or ourselves for a major life event, Lent is a time to prepare the heart for the significance of the Resurrection ​1. Imitating Christ❤️ ​The 40-day duration echoes the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, fasting and praying before starting His public ministry (Matthew 4:1–11). By participating, Christians symbolically enter that "wilderness" to seek spiritual clarity and strength. ​2. The Three Pillars❤️ ​Participation usually revolves around three core practices - ​Fasting: Giving up food or specific luxuries (like social media or sweets) to practice self-discipline and acknowledge that "man does not live by bread alone."❤️ - ​Prayer: Intentionally increasing time spent in conversation with God and reading Scripture to deepen the relationship.❤️ - ​Almsgiving: Focusing on charity and serving those in need, which shifts the focus from "self" to others.❤️ ​3. Reflection and Repentance❤️ ​Lent provides a structured time to examine one's life, acknowledge shortcomings (sin), and turn back toward God( repent). The ashes often worn on the first day serve as a humbling reminder of mortality—"Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return"—and the need for a Savior. ​4. Heightening the Joy of Resurrection Sunday ​By spending several weeks in a more solemn, reflective state, The "Hallelujah" of the Resurrection feels more powerful after a season of quiet and sacrifice.❤️ So If you have not already made the decision. Think about it. Talk it over with your spouse and really take this time serious.
