My drawings from Day 1 of my online workshop: Drawing and Painting Meditations
Are you curious about doing drawing and painting to relax, calm your nervous system, and get in touch with your inner artist? Introducing: "Somatic Drawing and Painting" - a body-based, breath based approach to making lines, brushstrokes, colors, shapes, and textures on paper or canvas. We are more interested in the act of making a drawing than the "final product." Day 1 was all black and white, and I used mainly charcoal. We did sensation mapping, breath mandalas, and bilateral drawing (with both hands at the same time). I was so wonderfully relaxed when we were done! Some of these are wild! Check these out and tell me what you think!

Oh my gosh all of this looks so wonderful @Melissa Gill . I love the idea of the meditations and beginner relief printing.
How do you use one vegetable to make multiple colors on fabric?
...with red cabbage of course! Here are my results from two rounds of dyeing with red cabbage. These are silk and wool, scoured first, and then mordanted with alum. Straight red cabbage water gives a beautiful purple. Adding baking soda gives a blue or green depending on how much baking soda you add. Adding vinegar or lemon juice gives a magenta. The wool had a yellow tint to it, so that warmed up the colors quite a lot.

I loved the variety that you got from one red cabbage. Isn’t it extraordinary.
