Hello
Hi guys, My name is Jan.I’m currently building an AI automation agency. So far, I’ve created a few workflows, including financial statement analysis, social media posting automation, and outreach with follow-ups. Now I want to start landing commercial projects, but I feel a bit stuck on how to approach it strategically. My idea is to offer a free audit and then propose custom AI workflow solutions tailored to each client. Where I’m struggling most is choosing the right niche and defining the best way to approach potential clients. Has anyone here gone through a similar stage? How did you choose your niche, and what worked for you when landing your first clients? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience.

Hey, really appreciate this, especially the “niche by problem” angle. That reframing actually helps a lot. You’re right, I’ve probably been overthinking the “perfect industry” instead of focusing on repeatable pain points. So far, I enjoyed building outreach and follow-up automations the most. There’s something satisfying about creating a system that directly drives revenue or reactivates leads without manual effort. The financial analysis workflows were interesting technically, but the revenue-facing ones feel more commercially powerful. Your Upwork point makes sense too. I don’t want to build a long-term freelancer identity, but using it as a demand validation tool and case study engine is smart.
