COuldn't get rid of the glare

I love to paint Zion and am trying to get better at it.

Found gouache quite difficult media for me

I keep feeling like something’s off.

I have been working on some smaller canvas board paintings (8x10), trying to work on brushwork, tone, value, etc. Working from references. The mountain is from a Pixabay image, and the other is referenced from an Isaac Levitan painting. Oils.
