Welcome to We Love Wool Club 🧶
I am so glad you are here. This is a cosy space for knitters & crocheters to make small monthly projects, share progress, and learn together. You can chat in the feed, ask questions, show your yarn and celebrate each step with friendly people. You do not need experience. Curiosity is enough. Say hello in the comments. What are you working on at the moment, and how long have you been knitting or crocheting? Make a cuppa and get comfy. I can't wait to knit & crochet with you. Sam x

That's a lovely design Sam!
My new project....Hope this one doesn't end up in the bin!
Hi.. I am new to WeLoveWoolClub. I am an avid dresses maker but am new to the world of knitting. Everything that I have tried to knit in the past has ended up in the bin due to all the holes (dropped stitches). However, I am eagar to put this right! She says! I am passionate about 1950s fashion and I love the knitwear. So I thought that I would give it a go. The patterns are mind boggling to me, but I like a challenge. So as soon as Amazon arrives today with my boucle wool I will be casting on this....

I used to knit vintage patterns a lot! I love the structure and designs. But even though vintage patterns look beautiful, but they're best avoided when you're starting out — sizing, fit, and yarn substitution are all more complicated than they appear, and the instructions were written assuming a level of knowledge most beginners don't yet have; abbreviations weren't always explained, steps were compressed, and techniques were described in ways that can feel like a puzzle even to experienced knitters. Instead, look for patterns that are vintage-inspired — you get the same classic aesthetic but with clear, modern instructions and straightforward sizing. When it comes to yarn, start with a smooth, plain, light-to-medium weight — it makes it much easier to see your stitches. Bouclé can be challenging; its loopy texture makes stitches almost impossible to read, which is frustrating when you're still finding your feet.
