For the People Who Feel Like They Should Be Further Ahead by Now
Can I tell you something over a lovely cuppa? If you've been looking at other vendors lately and quietly thinking, "I really thought I'd be further ahead by now," you're in good company. It's such an easy thought to have. You see someone with a beautiful booth, a packed market schedule, thousands of followers or products that seem to sell effortlessly, and before you know it, you've started measuring your own journey against theirs. 👉🏼What you don't see are the years behind that booth. You don't see the markets that barely covered the table fee. You don't see the products that never sold, the displays that didn't work or the evenings spent wondering if they should even keep going. Every successful vendor has a story that started long before anyone noticed them. One of the biggest mistakes we make is assuming we're behind because someone else appears to be ahead. The truth is, we're all walking different paths. Some people started five years before you. Some have more time, more resources or simply different goals. 🍌That doesn't make your progress any less real. Every market teaches you something. Every product you improve makes your business a little stronger. Every conversation with a customer helps build confidence for the next one. Those little steps don't always feel exciting while you're taking them, but they add up in ways you often don't notice until you look back. So if today feels a little discouraging, I'd encourage you to stop comparing your Chapter 3 to someone else's Chapter 15. Instead, ask yourself one simple question. What do I know today that I didn't know six months ago? I have a feeling the answer is probably more than you're giving yourself credit for. You're learning. You're growing. And you're much further ahead than you think. I'd love to hear from you. What's one thing you've learned on your craft market journey that your past self would have loved to know?

Great advice!
A little of what I do - my knitwear display
I thought I'd share a little of my work and one of the ways I display my knitwear at craft fairs. It's never quite the same twice — I'll always take into account the location of the table, where I want to draw the eye first, and what stock I have available on the day. I always include POS within the display, and everything is individually labelled and priced — more comfortable for the customer, and it also keeps things in line with Trading Standards regulations here in the UK. There are so many factors to consider when you decide to do an event!

@Debra Verrall quite frequently Debra, at the moment once a fortnight, but a lot of big agricultural shows are coming up in Cumbria, so I could do two different events in one week. It depends on the time of year. Jan - March are my no events time - back to designing new designs.b

@Lisa Graham we all need times to reflect and create.
About me
For me Art is my escape for everything happening around me. So I create, once I do a piece of art I get it made into clothes. A little something that can be one of a kind

A big welcome to our newest members! I’m so happy you’re here. Whether you’re preparing for your first craft market, trying to make your booth feel more polished or you’ve been doing markets for a while and want a few fresh ideas, you’re in the right place. This community is for the real side of craft markets, including the packing, pricing, display decisions, last-minute label printing and the occasional “where on earth did I put the card reader?” moment. Have a wander through the classroom when you get a chance. There are free lessons, worksheets, practical tips and plenty of support waiting for you. You don’t need to start at the beginning or work through everything in order. Pick the lesson that feels most useful for where you are right now. And please make sure you check out the Brag Book. It’s the perfect place to share what you make, show off your latest products, celebrate a market win, or simply let everyone get to know your business a little better. We love seeing what our members are creating. When you’re ready, introduce yourself below and tell us what you make, where you’re at in your craft market journey, or what you’d love a little help with. We’re really glad you found your way here.

@Lisa Graham I'm just doing classes online - so much easier than carting around heavy machines for physical classes.
