๐ŸŒฑ Does This Plant Need New Soilโ€ฆ or Just a Little Patience?
After refreshing tired winter soil, a lot of gardeners ask the same question: โ€ The answer lives below the soil and in how your plant responds over time. Top dressing is usually all you need if: * Your plant looks stable, just slow * Leaves are holding color * Soil now drains evenly * Growth resumes gradually as light increases This tells you roots are comfortable and they just needed support. Repotting becomes the better choice when: * Soil dries out extremely fast * Roots are visibly circling or escaping * Growth doesnโ€™t improve after weeks of better light * The plant feels cramped or top-heavy These are root-driven signals, not calendar-based ones. Late winter and early spring are a transition zone. By: * Improving light * Adjusting watering * Refreshing soil gently You give roots time to wake up before asking them to expand. I always seem to have trouble with soil and it always gets hard on top quickly even when I add perlite. I need to find a good quality soil for my houseplants

Plant app
Does anyone use a plant app and if so which one? I used plant parent this year and was not really happy with it. I like the set up but the advice they give you was not always right.

๐ŸŒฟ Why Your Indoor Herbs Are Leggy (And How to Fix Them Fast)
If your indoor herbs look tall, skinny, floppy, or like theyโ€™re reaching for something they canโ€™t quite grabโ€ฆ Youโ€™re not doing anything wrong. Theyโ€™re just hungry for light. Leggy herbs are one of the clearest signals plants sendโ€”and thankfully, one of the easiest problems to fix. Leggy herbs have: * Long, stretched stems * Wide spacing between leaves * Smaller or paler foliage * A leaning or flopping habit This happens when plants grow toward light thatโ€™s too weak or too far away. Overwatering in Winter: Why It Happens Even to Careful Folks (and How to Stop It) โ„๏ธ๐Ÿชด๐Ÿ’ง
If youโ€™ve ever thought, โ€œI barely wateredโ€ฆ how is this plant still unhappy? Welcome to winter plant care. Overwatering in winter is sneaky because itโ€™s not always about watering too much at once. Itโ€™s often about watering too often for winter conditions, even when youโ€™re being careful. Letโ€™s break down why it happens and how to fix it without turning plant care into a full-time job. Plants drink water to fuel growth. In winter, light levels drop, growth slows, and plants use less water. So the same watering schedule that worked in summer becomes too much in January. Soil near windows can stay cooler, especially at night. But dry air usually calls for humidity help (grouping plants, pebble trays, humidifier), not more soil moisture. ๐Ÿ’) ๐๐ข๐ ๐ ๐ž๐ซ ๐ฉ๐จ๐ญ๐ฌ + ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ง = โ€œ๐ฐ๐ž๐ญ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ซ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซโ€ In winter, large containers can hold moisture for a long time. Great post! I have had a few plants with fungus gnats!! I bought a moisture reader off Amazon so I can tell better that way if a plant is too moist. I need to find a good place to buy pots that will fit into my decorative pots! I wish all the decorative pots came with its own inner pot so I can lift it out to check the roots and moisture that way

Dusting is such a project. I do the best I can and love when I am able to put some out on the deck in the summer when it rains so they can get a good cleaning. I do wipe the leaves of a few but need to be better at it, I like the paint brush idea for my african violet!
