Clarity vs. Style: What Actually Makes Writing Powerful?
As writers, it’s tempting to chase beautiful sentences, vivid metaphors, layered descriptions, complex structures. But sometimes the most powerful lines are the simplest ones. Clear writing carries emotion just as strongly as ornate prose, sometimes even more, because nothing gets in the reader’s way. Do you think strong writing is more about stylistic flair or about precision and clarity, and which do you prioritize in your own work?

@Zane Dowling That’s a great way to frame it, especially the idea of not boxing techniques in and prioritizing the reader’s experience, it shifts the focus from technique to impact. When you’re drafting, do you consciously choose which instrument to lean into, or does the tone of the piece usually guide that decision for you?
