Drunken drums
First time playing at George's birthday. I'd had far too many pints by this stage, and it all got a bit fast at the end. 🤣

Favourite Bass Players (or other instrumentalists)
I know this group is mostly drumners, but on the topic of the course that was posted last week, I wanted to know if any of you have a favourite bass player (or other instrumentalist for that matter)? Thought it was an interesting question as I noticed I have a few favourite drummers, guitarists and keys players as well as bassists. I'll start with 5 from my list of many that are influential for me: 1. Pino Palladino 2. Chuck Rainey 3. James Jamerson 4. Stuart Zender 5. Bobby Vega

Primarily a rock / metal bassist, so here's my 5 1. John Deacon 2. David Ellefson 3. Tim Commerford 4. Steve Harris 5. Joey DeMaio (for the most ridiculous piccolo bass playing ever, see here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXZKS5bHtP4 ) Queen got me into music aged 12, then as you can see it all went downhill from there! 😀 I would give a shout out to John Klingberg who played on Van Morrisons Moondance album. It broke me out of the metals.
This weeks Challenge - No live this week 🥁
Hey gang, I am really sorry there is no live lesson this week. I have had some exciting but time consuming jobs come in which you will all hear about soon enough. I have recorded this weeks challenge for you in the video below. I would love to see you all post your efforts through the week. It's a great warm up exercise we should all be able to manage and will help us all regardless of level you are at 😀. Sticking RRLLRRLL - 32nd notes RLRLRLRL - 32nd notes RLRR LRLL - 16th notes

I'm resting up, have tendonitis in my right arm - will be back at it in a couple of weeks 😭
How many of you play in a band?
Hey gang, next week I am releasing the first two videos of a brand new course on the relationship between drummers and bass players in a band. It got me thinking who here is in a band? If you are please share so that we can all see and hear your bands. 🙂🥁

I've not actually played a drum kit yet due to having only been at it a few weeks! You can find me playing bass with @George Farrar in the Song Collectives, and with @Paul Carswell in the Hot Doggers. I also used to play guitar in a heavy metal band called When Idols Fall many years ago - here I am in 2011 (on the left - still had no hair then either). https://youtu.be/lGmH1R4TbxI?si=a2ePMOczZQ51fT5j&t=144
Gigging isn't all glamorous...
A bit of Friday inspiration for you guys 😂. Currently sat waiting for the ferry to the Isle Of White for a Dr Hook show tonight in the pouring down rain. Do you guys have any stories of the worst gig travels whether that is playing or going to watch a gig?

Travelled to Colne for a gig which the venue hadn't advertised and was on at the same time as a music festival. Had to fix the venue PA before we started. Played to three drunks in a empty venue. Amusingly guitarist Rob started a song in the wrong key and one of said drunks came up and told him he was playing it wrong. And me and drummer John both got two punctures on the way home to round off the night. Awesome.
