To my recollection, WFR started by Connor and Jon (EBG). For those who purchased the M82 book there were a selection of recordings, presentations and other useful and insightful shenanigans. The other aspect was that we all gained a secure and safe place to say what we wanted, how we wanted with regard to our businesses and efforts to increase sales.

I meant to add - I learned a great deal both from Jon and Connor but also the group. There was some banter and no one was so invested in a given method or opinion that they were unable to change. People applied different skills and techniques, shared feedback and discussed ways to improve or completely change their strategies/actions altogether. I now consciously try to accept ultimate responsibility for everything that goes wrong. I still think a lot of people are twats and will attribute some blame to them - room for improvement. I look for ways to discourage calls from the wrong people, in fact I discourage calls altogether. Website contact form that must be completed in full before it can even be submitted for my review. I charge up front for a site survey (discounted from final project invoice) in order to get rid of time wasters and all the while I am looking for reasons not to work with someone. - I do not want to fit a replacement door handle or hang a shelf for Mrs Higgins so I not only avoid marketing to them but try to make sure they know not to bother asking. I could be wealthier or have more time to myself, I am working to that end slowly and surely. The biggest thing I have gained is a degree of sovereignty. I choose my projects, I will say no to a prospect or client and I am happy to walk away if the job or situation does not suit me or I am not willing to bend to demands even if it means I lose money in the short term. We are a small business and in April 2026 we will have survived for ten years, by the skin of our teeth at times, but we will have made it to a point that approx 10% SMEs reach. Each year we have faced different challenges from Covid, poor management on my part, economic downturn, family illness and my own cancer. We would not be here without the guidance of Jon, Connor and WFR.
Ideas on a postcard
I shall be as brief as is necessary. 44yr old carpenter, mix of work including bespoke cabinets and built ins, timber framing (heavy traditional) and restoration, renovation and conservation of historic buildings. Diagnosed with prostate cancer in January, surgery to remove in first week of December. Prognosis is cancer should be gone, bedroom department on sabbatical for an unknown or indefinite period and urinary incontinence expected up to 12 months following a minimum of three months off work prior to gradual build up to full time hours. What do you do with the time off? Keep in mind there is an unknown date for returning to work despite limited financial resources as well as an unknown timeframe to work with regarding my physical ability to return to work at a pre-surgical level. Currently looking at: CAD training with a view to learning CAD, CAM and CNC to varying degrees CAD leads to simplified processes in existing business as well as development into other areas of construction and design CAM and CNC knowledge help with design and consulting opportunities with regard to my skills in wood working integrating with modern technologies as well as design and fabrication studio options Will Review our website, processes etc but can’t really push for too much with regard to contracts etc as I do not want to over promise and under deliver if recovery is slower than ideal - quite likely Also want to take the opportunity to develop new habits and routines for personal improvement- weight, fitness and relaxation etc. No sympathy required!! It is just a little bit of cancer and perfectly survivable despite some uncomfortable outcomes. I am looking for objective input from people wiser and more worldly than I. After all, I am just a chippy

Q - charges for quotations, site surveys and design. How would you and the gang suggest I respond to clients and prospects who question such charges? We charge for site surveys prior to quotation for all new prospective clients - EBG terms in essence, only refunded upon completion of project or if I decide I can’t or won’t do the job. (£100+vat) Quotations take a lot of time and design work takes longer. I am looking to streamline design process in the next couple of months. I will try and make the livestream but depends on situation on site.
What do you hate about other courses/programmes/etc?
What’s the worst thing you’ve seen in a course or program? Free or paid. The stuff that made you think: “Never again… I’m not going to bother finishing this.” Help me eliminate any barriers to enjoying the upcoming new programme by letting me know below. BONUS: If there’s anything you absolutely love, let me know too. But knowing the hates is far more important. See you in the comments.

Innaproppriate course delivery - english teachers providing training for SIA (Security Industry Authority) courses for Security Officers, Door Supervisors and CCTV Operatives - The SIA also cover Close Protection Officers though I am not aware of this occurring on that sector. First Aid, Health and Safety type courses, for example, where there is so much scope to a potential injury or situation, there is often a 'right' or wrong way of doing something presented by a course provider but it is not accompanied by notes from experience. Lack of experience and/or knowledge or confidence result in text book answers for textbook examples and no scope for intellectually exploring real life, non-textbook examples. If you know your subject well enough to take payment for teaching/training/assessing then you should be able to discuss the outliers with confidence.. We are told that if someone sustains significant burns we should keep it all clean, sterile and cover in aloe vera to cool the area. What they wont tell you is that if someone has big burns and no aloe vera to hand, you can, and should look for the nearest pond, puddle or other and chuick them in it. The heat and continued burning is killing them now - infection risk comes later, when they are in hospital, under intense monitoring, with treatment, medication, painkillers, and a shit tonne of aloe vera. My point is - I can read a book - I want to interrogate the subject, explore ideas and understanding.
The Revival... & what it means for you
This group is coming back. With a few changes. Here's the cliff notes: (And keep your eyes peeled for the full update) - This group is now exclusively my group. EBG will lurk in here, but he remains retired, and focused on his sci-fi, porn, and stoic writing. - I'm working exclusively with a former client who smartly snapped me up after hearing the news. So I have no need, want, or desire to sell my wares to you. On top of that it would be a breach of contract. So I literally, and legally can't. - This group is being reinstated by myself instead of creating a website, a blog, etc. My thinking is this group was producing real value for those engaging, and those lurking. So instead of putting my energy into a boring, static, isolated website - I'll put my energy back into this group. Moving forward the group will revolve around three words. Premium, Rebellious, & Profitable. Everything will be geared towards making you the go-to choice in your industry, using contrarian marketing & sales that works, and all while lining your palm with plenty of gold. The initial plan is this: 1) Rebrand the group around those words. 2) Regular writings around being a premium, rebellious, and wildly profitable company. 3) Finish, and release the never seen before 2.0 programme myself and EBG started before life happened - for free, because I don't need your money (The 1.0 version was sold for as much as £36k - the 2.0 version was going to be sold for similar amounts). Why I'm doing this will be detailed shortly. In the meantime here's the TL;DR. - This group is better than a website, and I've missed you & my former clients. - With the rise of AI, I believe community is the future. - If I can serve you guys, for free, at a level I've never done before cuz sales & bills - I'll be able to buy a lot of goodwill, save you ££££ on courses & programmes, and all while building my own notoriety. I'll speak to you sons of guns soon. Warmly, ⁂ Connor 'Remontada' Benham
