You’re More In Demand Than You Think
I spoke with a bookkeeping owner who does 2.2M in revenue. He’s been in business 4 years and has roughly 100 clients. We talked for around 30 minutes today about life, work, and the challenges of business. But he said something to me that I think should give everyone here hope. He said: “I love my overseas bookkeepers. They’re great workers and they’re always grateful. I wish I could hire them to be client facing, even more than my US employees. But, I think my clients prefer to talk to people here.” Huh 🤔 That tells me two things: 1) If you’re overseas, you might need to be targeting bookkeeping firms, CPA firms, or outsourced accounting roles. If you’re good, grateful, and reliable, that’s what these owners want. 2) If you’re here in the US, you need to target business owners. They don’t have the time to talk to people outside of their own time zones. Local bookkeepers are preferred. This means that wherever you are, there is a target client for you here in the states. You just have to find them. So don’t give up. It only takes one connection to change the game forever. Routing for you all ✊ P.S. I’m thinking about creating a LinkedIn course to teach how I’ve made these connections. Let me know if you think that’d be valuable in the comments. P.P.S. Go read today’s daily verse. It should be an encouragement to you all regarding this (Galatians 6:9)

@Beth Rau that’s a great idea! How do you get their email? I’ve thought of taking business cards when I see them and reaching out to them. Just don’t know if that’s acceptable or not.

@Beth Rau sounds like a great approach. Stay the course and hopefully it’ll be fruitful soon enough!

I have not worked with any of these statements in real life and all are a struggle to grasp right now. I am going to rewatch the video again to try to get a better understanding of the three.

1. I am a case worker for juvenile youth creating a bookkeeping practice to replace my income to be more financially free and be more active with our church. 2. In 6 months I want to realistically have 1-5 clients and build a solid understanding of bookkeeping and tax prep. 3. The steps to get there is to be an active participant in this course series and have courage reaching out to others.
