Bass Brain
As a bassist-first my brain is hardwired for those symmetrical Perfect 4th intervals, so as soon as I hit the B and high E strings, my patterns completely fall apart. On the Feb 5 community call, Kyle has already suggested I start by practicing octave shapes to help bridge the gap and break the 4-string mould, which has already been a great starting point. Just wondering if there's any other former bassists here? Or anyone who struggled with B and high E string patterns? What finally made it click for you? Any specific visual cues or exercises that helped you stop seeing the guitar as just a "bass with two extra mystery strings" lol Appreciate any tips or "aha!" moments you can share. Rock On! 🎸

Wow appreciate the full-on video reply! Octaves will be my stepping stone and then other patterns. And yeah, developing new reference points too. Gotta pick a home base that feels awkward now and will get comfortable after getting the reps in. Thanks Kyle!
