How do you create a simple direction guideline that you don't spend forever making but also use to help yourself from wasting time?
What I did: Built an n8n server for automations. Constraint: Trying to figure out too much at one time - operating at 30,000ft view instead of taking one simple step at a time. What I tried: Worked on n8n automations but got distracted by the endless options and option paralysis. Current hypothesis: Set up simple automations first. Asked ChatGPT for 80/20 automations that give the most bang for buck. Identified a website monitor with direct download to spreadsheet as my first automation - helps me track important changes on key websites while learning the basics. What I learned: Start with baby steps. A simple diagram of where you want to go can prevent wasted time without turning into a multi-day planning session. Next action: Study n8n automation basics for 1 hour, implement 1-2 basic automations, then spend 1 hour creating a tracker to document my automations and their purpose. Ask the room: How do you create a simple direction guideline that you don't spend forever making but also use to help yourself from wasting time?

@Dylan Fetch Good point. I overthink at 30,000 ft - too much perspective is as useless as blindly doing stuff. I’m going to pick the smallest step that still creates some value, ship it fast, then stack the next step. Great feedback!

@Christina Hooper haha I totally get where you’re coming from. I fall into that rabbit hole myself a lot. I like what you said about validating the problem which is really good. Most of the time this stuff is 90 percent shinny object and a waste of time. Using what you said makes sure when we need a wrench we don't reach for something crazy like an electric wrench (terrible analogy on my part) that doesn't fit the problem were trying to solve. The most useful thing I’ve found so far is a simple Telegram -> n8n -> Notion workflow. Now when I run into something actually worth keeping on social media (which is rare), instead of texting it to myself and letting it rot away in my messages, I just send it to my AI in Telegram. It spits back an 80/20 breakdown and drops the best parts into a Notion database. That Notion database is basically my “memory bank,” and I’ve got an AI agent that only pulls from that bank, not the web. So over time I’m building my own little “Bible of business,” by curating only really good business principles from tried and true business practices (3X Freedom framework, Ray Dalio principles, etc.) instead of relearning the same basics on repeat. I still learn new things and will continue too but I don't want to be relearning simple things and restarting from scratch essentially when I know what is proven to work already. Hope I articulated correctly and this helps!

Hi Everyone, I'm excited to be here! I’m about two years into this journey. This past year has been extremely hard because I’ve been battling a rare neurological condition, but I’m coming into remission and finally feel like I’m on the way up. I’m 29, a military veteran, and using my GI Bill at ASU film school because I always wanted to learn how to make films. I’m also new to computer science and I’m really thriving on the problem solving. I’m resourceful and used to figuring things out fast. My focus now is to narrow in, execute, and stop letting perfection hold me back. I’m here to work hard, have fun and contribute how I can! 🍻

@Mitch Nachtigall thank you!
How do you handle task-switching when waiting on others or AI to work — do you work on a second task or force yourself to stay focused in one context?
What I did: Deployed a web application to hosting and updated legal documentation (privacy policy and service agreement). Constraint: Tried to juggle too many tasks at once, which slowed me down instead of making me more efficient. Context: Working on both coding and business tasks. Added tasks/problems kept piling on, and I kept task-switching instead of focusing on one thing to completion. What I tried: Used AI tools across multiple browser tabs to problem-solve on the fly and learn as I went, but this led to more problems. Should have planned everything upfront before executing. Current hypothesis: Limit open tabs to only what's needed. Plan before building. Implementing a 1 major + 1 minor task system so I can switch to a small task when waiting on AI or other dependencies. What I learned: Doing more is actually doing less. My mind can only do quality work on limited things at a time. I need to focus on one task until completion. Next action: Tomorrow 7pm-11pm: create single-task protocol (1 major + 1 minor task system), 30 min planning + 2 1/2 execution + 1 hr review. Ask the room: How do you handle task-switching when waiting on others or AI to work - do you work on a second task or force yourself to stay focused in one context?

@Dylan Fetch I’m with you. I think it’s best to wait for the AI and not start something else, but in the moment that’s really hard. I also think it messes with your sense of time. Stuff that used to take a week now feels like it should take five minutes, and then you end up overtaxing your brain trying to keep up with that insane pace. So maybe the move is to ease into it slowly, so your brain can really adapt to the change.

@Christina Hooper this method feels more sustainable than trying to juggle two mental tasks. I’ve noticed the same thing, if I open other tabs for something quick I end up with a bunch of half finished task and less real progress. The idea of using low effort, clear done tasks while waiting makes sense too. Physical resets, taking trash out, walking the dogs, etc really clears the mind. Appreciate you sharing this, gives me a few things to test against my 1 major plus 1 minor setup.

Welcome to 3X Freedom! My name is Kasim (rhymes with "Awesome"). I'm a welfare baby turned decamillionaire and and my goal in life is to help you achieve freedom through entrepreneurship. For the last 20 years I have done nothing but obsessively studying how to build, grow, and exit businesses. The result is a collection of frameworks that I want to share with you here. But that's not where the value is. The value is in YOU! Here's what I need you to do immediately: Introduce yourself! - Got to the General Discussion - Create a new post - Tell us what you HAVE (what makes you awesome?) - Tell us what you WANT (what are your goals?!) - Tell us what you NEED (what's keeping you from your goals?) Go do that right now!! House Rules (Read These or Pay the Dumb Tax) - This community only works if we all bring the heat. - Share what’s working. Drop insights. Post wins. Teach what you’ve learned by bleeding for it. - Don’t post garbage. If it’s low-effort, AI mush, or generic “here’s my thoughts” content — I’ll delete it. If I do, I’ll usually tell you how to level it up so next time it hits. - If you pitch, you’re gone. No warnings. No wiggle room. If your post ends in you collecting money from someone here, that’s a pitch. You know it. I know it. Don’t test it. - Your team can absolutely use the resources and show up to intensives. But this group is for owners only. That’s how we keep the signal high and the convo sharp. How to Win in Here - Post what’s working in your biz - Steal what others share (ethically), use it, then share your results - Tag the people whose ideas helped you — keeps the flywheel spinning - Share wins in the Wins category so we can celebrate and dissect - Engage. Ask real questions. Give real answers. This is the room. Show up. Contribute. Execute. Be Free. Glad you’re here. Let’s get to work.
