Pricing question
Hello, I’m re doing the entire intercooler setup and eventual downpipe. Im curious what this sort of work goes for or what you would price it at. It’s mostly 3” titanium and some cast aluminum stuff.

@Grant Pratt titanium is back purged. Nice and shiny on the inside. Thanks for the recommendation. Sometimes I feel guilty pricing my stuff or like imposter syndrome.

@Grant Pratt it did get some slight discoloration on some of the welds on the inside. Not really sure why. I even used the heat tape stuff on some joints to help.
R34 titanium exhaust
Doing a titanium downpipe on an r34 gtr with a single top mounted turbo external waste gate. I wanted to hear opinions on autogenous welding titanium. Would it suffice for something that sees heat cycles like a wastegate ? Or would using filler be recommended? From what I know titanium can be welded safely without filler and it doesn’t take away any strength. The waste gate will have its own independent flex bellow s well as the main pipe.

@Grant Pratt I normally do stainless. Customer requested titanium. Believe it or not he already has had a titanium unit on there for years. He is switching turbo set ups and wants a new one. (The greyish color is from heat wrap) And ok. Your logic makes sense. I have heard from a few sources that titanium specially is one of the only metals that can be welded autogenously without compromising strength. But wasn’t sure if that sounded right for something like a down pipe and waste gate. I’ve tried my hand at it and was able to get good pen without a concave profile.

American living in japan. teaching myself how to do this stuff.. I have no peers or friends in the hobby so this page seems like cool place to learn some of the trade. I've been welding here and there for two years now. been building cars my whole life and got tired of paying for fab work! pic of my work and my current ride. I can fuse metal together, but since I have very little shop Experience I lack fabrication skills

@Grant Pratt honestly, its hard to put into words. im ignorant to a lot of the tools used in fab and at times it feels this info is gate kept. im teaching myself now how to get a good finish on material before i weld stainless. that clean matte / semi polished finish. also jigs for cuts and putting holes into piping or something like a wastegate return. and some off the practices like: when and when not to use a flex pipe for a waste gate return. just stuff like this im struggling to find insider info on
