Corporate life burn out
Last year I went above and beyond my job scope. Learned new systems, always helping other team members, and helping my manager complete SOX control tasks for their audit. For the first time ever on my self review, I put “exceeded expectations”. I hustled for a simple promotion of having “associate” dropped from my title. Only to be told I wasn’t visual enough to higher management and attending more meetings. Mind you, I attended every meeting invite. So how is that possible to attend more meetings I wasn’t invited to or knew of its existence. I have been there 6 years. It’s time to move on, but I am having a hard time translating my experience into a new job sector that has the same pay and healthcare as I am a single mother. Now I have stepped back and am only doing my basic job duties as I am “quiet quitting”. Best, Hustled and it got me no where.

I had the same experience at my last job. “Exceeded expectations” in my performance review and was told I was already doing the work associated with the manager level above mine. My boss constantly praised me, and I had external folks asking for me on their accounts. I asked for a promotion and was told I “wasn’t ready,” literally right after I was praised up and down. I quit a few months later for a new job making $27k more! They tried to counter offer and give me the promotion they had denied me previously. Gotta job hop to get what you want!
Is Sales compatible with Anti-Work?
Hi everyone! I’m an Account Executive in SAAS sales and feeling burnt out. I’ve had success in my career and genuinely enjoy working with people, but I don’t resonate with the constant hustle and ‘never enough’ mentality that many other sales professionals have. While I’ve made great money, my company’s comp structure recently changed, and I’m searching for my next position. I’m deciding if I want to remain in sales as an AE, go into sales operations / enablement, or make a switch entirely (like marketing, CS, or data analytics!). It’s also worth mentioning that I work for a high growth SAAS startup who’s working on their IPO, so it’s possible that I would be happier and have more balance doing a similar role at other companies. I’m just trying to figure out where to go next, and very open to a career change. Is anyone else here in sales? What have your experiences been?

Let us know what you end up switching to! I just moved from account management to CS, and it seems like similar expectations but less than sales. I still need to bill hours and track every 15 minutes of my day though :/
Do you actually believe US companies will adopt a 4 day work week?
I keep seeing articles about large corporations testing out the 4 day work week idea. As much as I would love to see this and do believe we could be heading for a workers revolution of some kind, I still don’t see how this will work in the US, given the immense power large corporations have over politicians and the workforce in general. Thoughts?

@Gabrielle Judge I hope so! My company is known for its work culture, so I’m hoping they will be one of the ones to consider it. As a millennial I’m so thankful for Gen Z and hope Gen Alpha continues the movement.
What's the 411 - remote work
What's the 411 on remote jobs? What markets are hiring vs. which are oversaturated? Thanks in advance!

Insurance TPAs are always hiring for remote work - look at Sedgwick. I now work in insuretech and it was very difficult to get into this company, but I worked for Sedgwick previously. It can be lazy girl if you want it to be.

@Deirdre Keeley Third Party Administrator. Basically, insurance companies pay TPAs to manage their accounts, claims, etc. I’ve done data analysis, accounting, and account management for TPAs.
Healthy Boundaries
Good morning beautiful Lazy “Girls”. Thought I’d reshare something I found on LinkedIn this morning: Protect your energy like it's your most valuable asset! Avoid draining activities, toxic people, and unnecessary stress. Your well-being deserves your utmost attention.
