FORMAT QUESTION?
Dear RPC Friends, I’d love your input as we shape this community together. Which format would help you most in learning to hear God, practice His presence, and grow spiritually? 1. Regular live classes & discussionsMore interactive, relational, and real-time engagement. 2. Daily short videos + one live discussion each weekConsistent practical teaching during the week with space to connect live. 3. Video training only + occasional “coffee hour” hangoutsMore flexible and self-paced with occasional community connection. Which would you prefer — and why?

Live classes are great, but it’s not easy for everyone to attend at the same time. However, live interaction is always best for seeing the Holy Spirit work in real time and for developing relationships. In other words, I don’t know which format I prefer. 🙂

@Tammy Penn we’re all praying for your complete healing, and for Christ’s peace during the whole process, that you will feel His presence! When I was going through my health crisis, He drew me so close to Him, and I pray the same for you! I can’t keep up with all the places you have moved to. Where did you land this time?

Here I am, your resident over-poster, with more to comment on from our discussion last night. Jennifer expressed a feeling of frustration about how some people seem to know when they hear from God, but most aren’t quite sure and don’t know where to begin. I think most everyday Christians believe that only “special” people hear from God. I suggested that she might be interested in reading Created to Hear God by Havilah Cunningham. This book is more practical guide than philosophical. We all hear God in some way, but we may just not recognize or trust what we “hear” which may be a feeling, a vision, a voice, or simply a knowing. I identified myself as a knower, although sometimes the Lord downloads a picture or a word. It’s a really interesting book that I highly recommend. It’s also on Audible.

The Cloud of Unknowing is free on my Audible right now. I do the yearly plan, so I’m not sure if that’s why.

And so is Meister Eckhart.

Josh, is there a way to load these lessons to the classroom section instead of the discussion threads? They might be easier to find, especially in the future as people join and want to catch up.

I’m only 27 mins in now, and it’s still soooo good! When he talks about being a profitable servant, I’m reminded of something I read in the Ruthie Young book that I don’t think I had thought about before. When Moses prepares the Israelites to battle the Amalekites, they are transitioning from slave to people who do things for themselves. Up until then, they had always looked to him as slaves look to their master because they had no agency or self-sufficiency. But now, others are coming forward to help Moses hold up his staff. Now they are fighting with their banners, their identities as individual tribes. Thru these 40 years in the wilderness they were slowing becoming themselves… the people of God. But it takes a while to shake off the slave mindset.
