About Linux Distribution Hopping
If you are new the Linux, be careful about distribution hopping. Don't get me wrong, when you start on your learning journey with Linux, it is perfectly fine to install a few distributions so that you can get good at it and maybe learn about different packaging managers. It is part of the learning experience. However, it comes a time where you need to stay with one distro and start using it as your daily driver so you will learn how to maintain it and how to get "things done" using your Linux distro as you would with MacOS or Windows.

While I agree in general about distro-hopping, I believe it’s better to get accustomed to at least one Debian-based and one Red Hat-based distro for career progression. I recommend: For those moving from Windows (or Mac) to Linux (in general, i.e. for reasons other than as a career), I make the suggestion to just pick one for now (e.g: Linux Mint). For those wanting to make a career in tech, that’s where I recommend to start with one for now (e.g. Red Hat or Debian-based) to learn Linux fundamentals etc, then take up a second type later on and use both as daily drivers. I use all OS types as daily drivers (MAC, Fedora, Ubuntu, Windows) at both home and at work. Hope this helps :-)

Hello fellow tech enthusiasts! My name is Ivan. I'm an Aussie who is interested in all things related to devops - which does include automation, note-making, zettlekasten, containers, home-labbing, self-hosting and cybersecurity. I always seek to learn new topics such as kubernetes, while also participating in communities such as this one. My goals are to make new friends, share what I know and to eventually stop working for someone else and join the ranks to becoming a freelancer (Just like Mischa) - who's with me? :-) While I seek to learn all that is provided here, I do plan to share new and interstings tidbits of related topics as I progress through this learning journey. Many thanks for reading my first post. I look forward to making new friends and engaging in this community. Cheers, Ivan.
