Started in at the end of 2010 when I was 19. 32 now, took some time off due to injury and just being out of it after recovering, but was missing it too much to stay away
I was talking with Darius and Drew about how I have recently been doing my guillotine choke, and told them I would post a video on how I do it, so here it is: (Any questions or criticism is always welcome)
What's everyone working on right now in Jiu-jitsu? Got a certain goal, position, submission you're trying to add to your game? Issues that are holding you back? Let the community know and let see what we can do to help each other out!
I've been working on a few things lately, Coming up with more options from T-guard depending on what reaction my opponent gives. I taught a bunch of sweeps from there, but starting to get into some submissions from there as well. Using a collar drag grip/set up is a great way to set up a loop choke from there as one of the things I'm experimenting with. Also I have been working on my own spin (no pun intended) to a kimura trap system, but from the bottom. Lastly, I have been working lots on guillotine choke, and incorporating it into my game more. I have always struggled with this submission until recently. I made a few changes to how I lock it in and apply pressure and it has totally changed this submission for me. Ironically I use way less effort and strength to finish it now, but it is 100x more effective.
@Darius Wood @Drew Weatherhead I should specify, arm-in guillotine. I used to struggle with that version in particular. But, I'll take a video soon to post here and show some of the adjustments I've made. The main things I adjusted are: - My hand placement and using my thumb bone to block the carotid artery - Really shifting out to the side while bringing their head to the floor - Using my arm around their head to bring his head in towards their core - To finish I'm actually collapsing inwards, as opposed to pulling on their neck - If done correctly, I just hold the position for a few seconds and they cannot breathe + it cuts off circulation to their brain
