Shadow Work and Facing Your Demons
New project in the works: As many of you know, the whole story behind Get Haunted and the duo of Rob and Sara was born from a pretty crazy story about someone (me) who was forced to face some of his own demons. Those demons were manifested from years of hidden, buried, and sometimes forgotten traumas. The truth is, they manifested in ways that legitimately scared me, my family at the time, and even some of my close friends. Not just with the changes in my personality, but also with some unexplainable things that were occurring over those 8-9 months. It sucked. More than words will ever be able to describe. This whole ordeal, and the message that was delivered, drastically changed my course and perception of the paranormal itself. In ways that I never truly would have ever been able to grasp without the help of the other half of Get Haunted .. that, obviously is Sara. Her fateful words to me at the end of a desperate and critical reach-out to her - and I barely knew her at the time, were the words that shattered the world as I knew it. They led me to a place that, unless you have been there, you can never fully understand. Her words were this: "Hey Rob, did you ever think that those demons you're fighting belong to you?" On the surface, this may feel rather simple but the entire conversation along with the ACTUAL meaning of those words, in that context, were not just profound, they saved my life. Literally. Since then, I have tried to walk a path that keeps me grounded in reality and just as importantly, connected to the pieces of me that shape the way I perceive. How I perceive everything. Like any other struggle in life, sometimes this type of maintenance can be hard to maintain. As humans, we tend to patch up our wounds and focus on other things once the wound is perceived as being healed. Life and "real world" problems steal center stage and we focus there instead ... while the wound itself is healed, it remains. At the same time, not all of our demons show themselves. Some will hide in the shadows doing what they do best. Many times we are unaware that they are even there. Sometimes we may dress them up as something else so that we don't have to hear the messages they have for us.
