If your story is not landing...we can help!
If your story isn’t landing, it’s usually not talent. It’s structure. Weak hook. Unclear conflict. No escalation. No transformation. Most indie filmmakers are guessing. You don’t have to. This Saturday, I’m hosting a FREE Filmmaker Bootcamp focused on the business and structural side of storytelling - how to build projects that hold attention and position you for funding. If you’re serious about getting your film investor-ready, this is for you. Grab a seat here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/filmmaker-bootcamp-get-your-plan-of-action-tickets-1982636587404?utm-campaign=social&utm-content=attendeeshare&utm-medium=discovery&utm-term=listing&utm-source=cp&aff=ebdsshcopyurl Let’s build it right the first time.

I’m so there!
The Filmmaker Psychological Shift you need.
The moment you accept that YOU ARE A PRODUCER, your behavior changes. You no longer ask: ā€œWill someone read my script?ā€ You ask: ā€œWho is the right champion for this script, and how do I package it so they can say yes?ā€ You no longer think: ā€œI hope I get cast.ā€ You think: ā€œHow do I create the project I want to star in?ā€ You stop pitching yourself. You start building vehicles. That mindset is empowering. It creates clarity. And clarity drives momentum. If you’re an actor: Start identifying material that aligns with your strengths and build the vehicle. If you’re a writer: Stop waiting for an option. Package and champion your own work. If you’re crew: Leverage your relationships and understanding of production mechanics to initiate projects. The indie ecosystem rewards initiative. No one will care about your story more than you do. No one will fight for your vision harder than you will. The moment you embrace that you are a producer, you move from reactive to proactive. You move from hoping to building. You move from being chosen to choosing. And in independent film, that shift can be the difference between a short-lived career and a lasting one. If you're in the indie space, the question is not whether you can become a producer. The question is whether you’re willing to take responsibility for your own trajectory. Because in this industry, ownership isn’t optional. It’s survival.

I’m doing it, Mom! I’m a producer! This is so true. I had two chances to produce two decades ago, but didn’t follow through because stunts was easier. But stunts has a way lower cap than producing. And my best opportunities have come the producing. So many learning curves, though!!!
If You Upload a Document to ChatGPT… Is It Now ā€œOut in the Worldā€? (SKOOL Exclusive)
Let’s address the fear directly. I’ve heard it from filmmakers. Entrepreneurs. Writers. Investors. ā€œIf I upload my screenplay or business plan into ChatGPT…does it become public? Does it feed the AI mothership?ā€ Short answer: No. But let’s unpack this properly. 1. Is Your Document Visible to Other Users? No. Your uploads are not public. They are not searchable. They are not accessible by other users. If you upload a script, pitch deck, or strategy document, another filmmaker cannot prompt the system and retrieve your material. That’s not how it works. 2. Does It ā€œFeed the AIā€? Here’s the breakdown. If you are using a consumer plan (Free or Plus): Your conversations may be used in anonymized, aggregated form to improve the system, unless you turn off training in your settings. You can do that here: Settings → Data Controls → Turn off ā€œImprove the model for everyone.ā€ If you are using Team, Enterprise, or the API: Your data is not used for model training. Period. That’s one of the key reasons many businesses upgrade. 3. Is Your IP Being Redistributed? No. OpenAI does not take your screenplay and give it to someone else. It does not index your business plan into a public vault. It does not publish your content. The system doesn’t store your script in a retrievable library where another user can access it. If training is enabled, what improves are statistical patterns, not ownership of your specific document. Think of it less like posting to YouTube. Think of it more like using an advanced calculator that improves over time from usage patterns. 4. Should You Still Be Smart? Yes. Even though your content isn’t public: • Don’t upload classified information • Redact social security numbers • Remove sensitive financial account data • Be mindful with ultra-confidential legal material If you’re handling high-stakes IP or investor documentation, consider Enterprise or API usage for additional protection. The Bigger Picture AI is a tool.

Good to know, because twice now people have taken IP of mine and run it through ChatGPT without asking me.

@Aaron Clow I love their intention; "In horror, in genre films, the assumption is more just a straight entertainment film. But you can Trojan-horse great relationships and universal themes into them. So you can actually come out with a more populist view, while also making something substantive."
