Rain gear that actually works (and what doesn’t) 🌧️
Let’s clear something up real quick… Riding in the rain isn’t the problem.Bad gear is. I’ve ridden through cold Colorado rain, mountain storms, and straight-up “why am I even out here” weather… And there’s a MASSIVE difference between gear that works… and gear that leaves you soaked 20 minutes in. 🧥 JACKET / PANTS What works:Real waterproof gear (REV’IT, Alpinestars, Klim) What doesn’t:Cheap “water resistant” jackets 👉 If it says “water resistant,” you’re getting wet. Period. 🧤 GLOVES What works:Waterproof gloves with actual membranes What doesn’t:Basic gloves + “they’ll dry later” mentality 👉 Wet hands = no grip = bad day 👢 BOOTS What works:Waterproof boots or legit boot covers What doesn’t:“Eh my boots will be fine” 👉 Nothing ruins a ride faster than wet socks for 2 hours 👀 VISIBILITY What works:Hi-vis / reflective gear What doesn’t:All black in a rainstorm 👉 Rain = low visibility = you’re invisible 🌫️ ANTI-FOG What works:Pinlock insert What doesn’t:“Crack the visor and hope for the best” 👉 Fogged visor = you’re riding blind ⚠️ HERE’S THE REAL PROBLEM Most riders don’t invest in rain gear because: - “I don’t ride in rain that much” - “It’s expensive” - “I’ll deal with it if it happens” - Then it happens…And now you’re cold, soaked, can’t see, and just trying to survive the ride home. 🧠 GRUMPY RULE: If you ride more than once a week…You WILL get caught in rain eventually. So you’ve got two choices: 💰 Spend a little now💀 Or suffer every time it happens 👇 REAL QUESTION What’s the worst rain ride you’ve ever been stuck in? Drop it below… I know some of you have horror stories 😅

I had this rain jacket for mud races. It was a clear jacket with almost a thick plastic feel. With tight around the wrist and neck so no water or mud could get in. Kept me warm and dry for a lot of mud races. only downside was it was like a sauna in there cause it kept in the body heat so well
Chain Maintenance 101: The Stuff Your Manual Didn't Make Clear
Let's talk chains. If you have a chain-driven bike, this is probably the most neglected maintenance item. HOW OFTEN TO CLEAN/LUBE: - Every 300–500 miles in good conditions - After EVERY ride in rain - More often if you ride dusty roads HOW TO CHECK CHAIN TENSION: 1. Put bike upright 2. Find middle of chain 3. Push up with finger 4. Measure slack 5. Most bikes want 1–1.5 inches Too tight = premature wearToo loose = dangerous CLEANING TIPS: - Use kerosene or chain cleaner - Use a chain brush - Clean BEFORE lubing LUBING TIPS: - Apply to inside of chain - Spin wheel while applying - Let sit 15 mins - Wipe excess What do you use for chain lube? Any horror stories? 👇

I 100% agree, gear in general shouldn't be cheaped out on but especially boots and helmet.
Master Slow-Speed Riding: Why It's Harder Than Going Fast
Hot take: Going slow on a motorcycle is harder than going fast. At highway speed, the bike balances itself. At walking speed? It's all you. WHY SLOW SPEED MATTERS: - Parking lots - U-turns - Gas stations - Stop-and-go traffic THE SECRETS: 1. Look where you want to go. Your bike follows your eyes 2. Use the friction zone. Clutch control = everything 3. Rear brake, not front. More stability 4. Keep RPMs slightly up. Helps balance 5. Drag rear brake + throttle. Pro-level control PRACTICE DRILL: Find a parking lot. Set two markers ~20 ft apart. Practice U-turns both directions for 20 minutes. Who's trying this? 👇

@Grumpy Viking Definitely, not to brag or anything but I am a former pro off-road racer. But I still go back and do drills, it's helped me through all the ranks.

@Grumpy Viking Definitely, been all over the west coast to race dirt bikes. From cali to Texas to Idaho and west. Very fortunate to have taken it as far as I did. Just not a career in off-road. In college becoming a pilot.
