Cutting away to avoid animating
Hi, all - I've been working through week one of the AI masterclass and I am giggling about Mark's example of cutting away to avoid having to animate extra action. I use that trick frequently! I'll share an example with my most recent video. This wasn't done with AI, but it's how I regularly use cutting away to avoid extra animation. The example I'm talking about starts at about 55 seconds in. The kids arrive at the frozen pond and decide to skate across it. I had to get them from their starting positions at the edge of the pond onto the ice and into their skating positions. Instead of having to figure out how to show that, I decided to add the character of a penguin already skating on the ice, which gives them the idea to skate across. They decide to skate across, then I cut to show the penguin skating, then zoom out to a wider shot of the kids on the ice and already skating. This way I didn't have to animate them walking onto the ice and getting into position. https://youtu.be/GtiXd32dI24?si=SmsN_WiSximBXDFa
