The fear I have about picking the wrong man is: realising that he had two faces: one for the world showing an intelligent articulate and practising Muslim, but behind closed doors he was not the same. The skill I would need to feel confident about that is: keeping logic, connection to Allah and advice of my brother before connecting emotionally. One question I wish I knew how to ask a potential spouse is: what does fearing Allah mean to them?

@Zoya Z If not having emotional intelligence is your dealbreaker, then you wouldn't choose him right? So, you can ask questions to gauge how his father deals with anger, what has he learnt about the way his dad deals with things? Maybe give him a scenario and not just listen to his words but watch his body language.

@Aamina M Aww bless you sis! A few students that have kept in touch with me have benefitted as this was really nasiha from my own parents although not in those exact words. Someone once said to be that since I didn't have any children of my own, I would be deprived of sadaqa jariya, I told her I think of my students as my own children and hope to guide them, she replied...but you didn't give birth to them! This proves the saying that arguing with a fool, proves there are two!
