Fasting
Am at 40 hours. Feel a bit spacey. Just had some black coffee. (Water was first earlier) I feel successful doing this. Didn’t think I would be able to get this far. My right foot pain improved a bit. Thought I would be constipated. I wasn’t. Could be the meal I had before fasting and the vitamins I front loaded. Who knows… Don’t have the focus and clear mind I thought I might have. Takes a lot of concentration to do things. Laura

Well done, Laura!! Amazing when we get to the other side, eh? And yesss, bone broth is a warm hug in a mug! I also love fasting and takkkg back some of my time with food preparation. In fact, my eating has gotten more simplified as I've fasted. It's such an interesting conversation to have with yourself!! How do you feel now that you've competed the fast? I'd love to know if you got into ketosis. Any interest in purchasing a monitor?
36 hr fast
Started at 2:30pm today. Have all my fasting snacks ready, electrolytes, Celtic salt, olives, hard boiled eggs and skinny dip chocolate Ate nourishing meals today and had an acupuncture appt today. Appreciate all the support. Laura

Laura, well done making a plan and getting prepared! Bravo!! One (important) note: When fasting, the objective is to quiet insulin so that the body does not use glucose for fuel. This requires fasted snacks that do not trip the insulin switch. If anything sweet enters the mouth (including most electrolytes), the pancreas tries to get ahead of it by releasing insulin. I'm sorry, but the Skinny Dipped chocolate will interrupt your fast. I'll collect a chocolate brand list that will work for a medicinal dose of chocolate without interrupting a fast. You did get some benefit from the fast, but perhaps did not make ketones. Do you own a glucose monitor?

Week 5 Zoom
I don’t see the week 5 zoom replay. Please advise. Wanted to listen to it before week 6. Laura

Thank you for checking in, Laura. There is no week 5 zoom class, bc I was traveling. We did meet and chat about fasting last Thursday but I did not record it. We're meeting again informally tomorrow night for the same Q&A format. Would love to have you! It's happening at the same Zoom link, 7p.

@Laura Hillyard I'll make sure to record tomorrow night's class, as well.
Question
I am doing ok with fasting. I have gotten up to 20 hours. I am struggling with eating after fasting. I want to keep eating even if I am full It’s all I can think about during my eating window. Then when I stop eating, it is better, meaning going back to fasting. Can anyone relate and what is this about and any solutions/suggestions? Laura

This is nuanced, and I'm so glad you brought this up. Any chance you can come to our fasting Q&A tomorrow (Wednesday) at 7p? Happy to answer it here, but honestly, easier for me to flush out pieces if I can ask you some questions, too. 😎
