INTORDUCTION
Hello everyone, I’m Holly Black, an author of fantasy and speculative fiction, and I’m excited to be part of this community. Over the years, my work has been honored with the Nebula, Newbery, Mythopoeic, and other literary awards, but beyond the accolades, I’ve always believed the heart of writing lies in curiosity, imagination, and persistence. Fantasy has given me the freedom to explore power, fear, desire, and the darker corners of human nature through worlds that feel both impossible and strangely familiar. I joined this space because I love conversations about storytelling, worldbuilding, character complexity, creative process, and the messy reality of writing books. Whether you’re outlining your first story or deep into revisions, I know how challenging and rewarding the creative journey can be. Looking forward to connecting with fellow writers, sharing insights, and hearing about the worlds you’re building.

@Rob Cole Hello, thank you for the warm welcome and congratulations on publishing your first biography on your late fiancée, may her soul rest in peace. Narrative non fiction balances emotional truth, structure and story telling. I enjoy conversations around story craft as well.
A Reminder for Every Writer in the Middle of a Draft ✍️
As a ghostwriter, I’ve worked on manuscripts that started as scattered notes, unfinished chapters, rough outlines, ideas the author almost abandoned. What usually makes the difference isn’t perfect writing from day one, It is consistency. Some of the strongest books are built slowly, one imperfect page at a time. The first draft is not meant to impress readers. It’s meant to exist. Editing shapes the message later. Momentum creates the manuscript first. So if your current draft feels messy, slow, or incomplete, you’re probably closer to progress than you think. Keep writing. 📚 https://www.fiverr.com/s/7Yeb3L4

This honestly came at the right time for me. I’ve been sitting on a book idea for a while because I kept feeling like I needed everything perfectly figured out before moving forward. What you said about momentum creating the manuscript before editing shapes it really shifted my perspective a bit. I’m actually considering working with a ghostwriter because I have the ideas, themes, and direction, but turning scattered thoughts into a structured manuscript has been the challenging part. Really appreciate this reminder. It makes the process feel a lot less intimidating.
