🌱 Not All Wins Are Visible at First
Not all wins show up right AWAY 👀✨ Sometimes the most meaningful growth is happening quietly, underneath the surface, long before it looks like success on paper. Last year, for the first half of the school year, our district was severely short-staffed. We were supporting about 125 ESL students, and the reality was hard👎 🏫 Three full-time teachers at the elementary level 🙅♂️ No consistent support at the middle school 👨🏫One teacher at the high school Many of our students, especially in grades 3–5 and middle school, were receiving very little in-class support. At the time, I was traveling between schools, working with fourth grade in one building and fifth grade in another. Many of these students were once been my kindergarten and first grader - I KNEW THEIR STUGGLE WAS REAL AND THEY NEEDED HELP. By January, I honestly felt like we were stuck in the mud. I remember thinking, HOW IS THIS GOING TO WORK - WHO IS GOING TO HELP THESE STUDENTS? One person ❌can’t do everything. And THE realization FOR ME~ Instead of trying to carry it all alone, I reached out.I leaned into communication.I collaborated with classroom teachers.I supported new and rotating staff as best I could. Was it perfect? NO Did every student suddenly jump to grade level? NO BUT (and there is a but to this story - a happy ending if you keep 📖) By the end of the year, we saw steady growth - especially in reading fluency. Students who had been one to two grade levels behind were making progress. It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t instant. But it was real. At the time, it didn’t feel like a win. LOOKING back now, a year later, I know it was. The win wasn’t “doing it all.” The win was RECOGNIZING LIMITS, REACHING FOR SUPPORT, AND TRYIN BY BEST! GROWTH happens when show up every day! And that’s what I want to invite you into here. 🌿 ✨ Your Turn (AND YES - i MEAN YOU 🌸) As you look back on this year, I’d love for you to share a win that wasn’t visible at first 👇 🌱 Took time to unfold 💭 Felt hard before it felt meaningful
