Hears Perfection
Anyone have a thought or two regarding Hears Perfection from Brainworx? I’ve been needing to work on calibrating my listening environment both on headphones and with my speakers. Plus, the plug in was on sale, $80 off on Plugin Alliance, so it seemed like a good time to take the plunge. Also, I do have Ollo headphones so my initial thought would be the Hears would be instead of as opposed to in tandem with the Ollo set up. Thanks for all your help and hope all are well and busy.

Hears does work. I used to scratch my head when I'd bring a song to a mentor and he'd tell me that the cymbal is too loud in the left speaker. After taking the "hearing test" that comes with Hears, I could see a 3db boost around 5K in my left ear, and more subtle boosts around that area, and about 1.5 boost in my right ear. Add to this my tinnitis, and this is now a mandatory tool with my plugins. There's a test that you take through your speakers and another for your head phones. Plus I got a nice discount as well. Along with the Paz analyzer, it's no wonder my earlier mixes weren't what they should have been.
What's your DAW?
What DAWs is everyone using and why did you choose that particular one or more? Mine is Steinberg Nuendo 4.3. I also just got FL Studio.

I've used Studio One since it was Studio One 2. Well over a decade I believe and just upgraded to Fender Studio Pro 8. The only thing it doesn't do is have a Scrubbing tool. Still don't understand why it hasn't been included. Otherwise it is capable of more than I'll ever have the time to learn. I have no intention of moving anywhere else!

@Nick Allegro No actually. While the Listen tool lets you click anywhere in a track and start playing the track from that point, the Scrub tool allows you to click and manually drag through the track, as fast or slow as you'd like, if you need to find a specific spot, both backwards and forwards. Kind of like how you would find a splice point on an old reel to reel tape machine. My Melodyne plugin has it and it's great for pinpointing an area that goes by too fast at regular speed.

All about time, and the lack of it...the grievous lack of it! Don't let it just slip away! https://harrykopy.com/single/129337/intro-to-lost-time-all-the-time-i-lost

@Eduardo Palomares what’s in a name. As long as the product continues to be as good as or better than it is now, I’m happy with it.

Well I've spent over an hour trying to sign into the Fender.com page, but it keeps sending me around in circles. Was trying to buy the Fender Pro upgrade but couldn't connect, no matter how many times I changed the password...Finally went to Sweetwater and ordered the upgrade there. Was finally able to get the Fender site to work, and attempted to follow the instructions, but I think Fender.com just isn't working right as the options to upload that Sweetwater sent are different than what's on the Fender site. So I guess I don't get to play with it tonight....bummer!
How to Book a Mentor Check-in
If any of you are having trouble booking check-ins, or are new to Mastering.com Membership, we've put together a new document that walks through the process of booking a session. (Standard and Premier Members can upgrade to VIP at https://skool.com/mastering/plans to receive Check-ins and access to other benefits) As a VIP member, you can book one Check-in session per calendar month for one on one mentoring. The sessions are in 15 minute increments and are for asking questions or reviewing tracks you are working on, both assignments from the curriculum and personal music. These sessions are open to members to join and view to learn from watching the mentor sessions. Please read this doc carefully for full instructions: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TWVySVsg6QyOED7G9CVf8HtwAxDWHRSzy5ggTMwm0wU/edit?tab=t.0 Hope to see lots of you on calls soon.

I see we're down to just 3 mentors with fewer check-in times/dates. Will that change down the road? Was nice having more options...
