Saturday Scenarios
Industry: Hospitality The hotel owner frequently bypasses you and gives direct orders to your staff, leading to confusion and miscommunication. As the hotel manager, you need to address this situation and ensure that all instructions go through the proper channels. Questions for Discussion: 1. How would you communicate to the hotel owner the importance of going through you? 2. What steps would you take to reinforce your role within the team?

I would speak with the hotel owner and let them know the communication route they are taking is causing more confusion which is contributing to issues with productivity and customer satisfaction. I’d let them know it would be best to share any initiatives or changes with me directly so I can make sure to address any concerns at the time. Since I’m more knowledgeable in their processes I can break down the needs and tasks for the team and make sure they are properly handled with the team members. I would also speak with the team and let them know that we can discuss any confusion in the previous tasks to gain clarity and confirm a best practice or procedure moving forward. Ask if they have any concerns and reassure we have a safe space to share.
Networking 1on 1
Good afternoon everyone, I wanted to share a minor win today. I connected with a VP on LinkedIn and sent my usual introductory message. She replied the same day, expressing interest in my profile for a remote SAFe Scrum Master position and asked for my resume. I promptly sent it over, and she responded positively, saying she would have her recruiter contact me. The recruiter reached out shortly after and is already working to set up an interview with the Development Director. I want to encourage everyone to keep networking consistently. This may not be my final stop, but you never know if this message is meant for you. Keep pushing forward and have a blessed day.

Awesome! Good luck!
Scrum for non-software/IT
Has anyone implemented Scrum in a non-software environment, I am looking at how to use Scrum to optimize procurement processes.

Great question. I’m curious as well.
Retrospective idea
I have a retrospective event coming up shortly. Can you please provide one or two ideas to help me with it? The team size is twenty and the sprint time box is three weeks.
