The Great Debate...
Today's question: Seated or Standing? Why? Let the Debate begin...

Standing for me. Soon as I get home, though, you couldn't get me out of my chair after I've walked the dog.

@Robert Roe LOL. That's funny, because I have the opposite problem. I feel more in control of my pedals when I'm standing, especially if they slide around and work themselves out of reach while I'm seated. Sometimes I have to step forward a little to regain control of the stomp button.
You Never Know
I suppose i'll post this here instead of on Finbar's page, just to get Tod more engagement... My gig tonight was at a place where I have a monthly residency. I usually play a nice mix of '70s and '80s classic rock with some old country mixed in, and I'm pretty successful there. 2 weeks ago I played there, and I found that the crowd was really into '90s country, so I played to the crowd, and had a pretty full tip jar when I left. I hadn't played there in about a month, so maybe there was a shift? Cool, I'll adjust my song list for tonight, and I'll front-load some good ol' country bangers. But the opposite happened. The "country bangers" got crickets. So halfway through set 1, I figured I'd go back to the "holy trinity" of Country Roads, Margaritaville, and Brown Eyed Girl. What d'ya know...the crowd came alive. I reverted back to my classic rock tunes, and they dug it. Just goes to show you, it ain't easy to predict what your audience is gonna like, even if you've played there 25 times. Always be ready to adapt.

Two weeks ago at the place where I play regularly, at the end of my 3rd and final set for the evening, I received a very surprising response. The whole room burst into applause in front of me. I turned around and the servers and kitchen staff were all applauding and whooping behind me. It wasn't quite a standing ovation, since they all work on their feet, anyway. But it sure felt great. Then last week, I was so positive it was going to happen again. Final song comes to an end... less than crickets. More like dead crickets. Yup. Ya just never know. I'm going in again today in a few hours. And so it goes...
Set up time.
Between the toilet and the dining room. Constant traffic. Still, the footies on. 🤣. This is not me, just another muso.
Set up time.

A 2-way traffic mirror in the doorway would complete the setup! 😁🎶
Good initiative
Great that you have created this community. I am sure that we can all benefit from each others experience and knowledge, and share the ups and downs of solo gigging. Well done Tod.

Yes, congrats on your new Skool community, Tod! I hope we'll still see you sometime over in Finbar's world.

Current gigging gear
Hey gang! I was just curious what is the current gigging gear that you are using. Are you using pedals? Do you have your own portable PA? What guitar(s)? etc. Here is my gear: I am trying to keep things real simple... Guitar: Taylor 214ce Deluxe in Sunburst Pedal: TC Helicon Harmony Singer 2 PA: Harbinger MLS1000 Mic: Shure SM58 (Back-up Shure Beta 58) I have been toying with the idea of adding a Beat Buddy or maybe a simple kick drum pedal. Your turn...

My main gigging guitar is an Epiphone Masterbilt DR 550 MCE electric acoustic, however, I've recently been doing some gigs with my Epiphone Casino, which is a hollow body electric like the one John Lennon used to perform on the famous Beatles rooftop concert. EV Everse 30-M pa system for indoor puds and restaurants. Mackie Showbox for outoors or when battery powered amplification is needed. For effects, looping, and added enhancements, I use a Boss VE-8 Acoustic Singer (and I have a Boss digital delay plugged into it for leads). Mic: Sennheiser e-835 Android tablet running Songbook Pro app for lyrics. I have a Gator Frameworks guitar stool, but I usually perform standing up.

@Guy Douglas You don't use the looper in the Boss VE-8?
