Hello and thanks for the invite! I'm South African, now living in Northern Ireland with my daughter and her family. (and oh, I so miss SA sunshine - and heat!). I'm an award winning food journalist, author and publisher. On Skool I teach how to write about food in an evocative way: cookbooks, blogs, and so on. I suffered a terrible loss when my (fifth) husband - my soulmate and love of my life - died suddenly. I went through the stages of grief, and had to learn how to put my life back together. I wrote a book with my friend and coach, Ailsa Tulloch, on the subject (the book is available on Amazon). We've also created a private, women-only Skool community where women can find advice on all things to deal with post-divorce.

Can we just say… it feels like we launched this community ages ago — and yet it’s only been a couple of weeks! I guess that’s what happens when you’re surrounded by good people, good energy, and a whole lot of lekker moments… time just flies. 🤍 𝗔 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗺 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 Last week we hit 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀 — whoop whoop!! 🎉 Such a special milestone for something that started as a simple calling on our hearts. And now, a big welcome to everyone who joined us after that, South African and friends of South Africa— we’re so glad you’re here. @David Collins, @Zelda J, @Lisa Viviers, @Samantha Ollewagen, @Jo Ann Lea, @Ciska Fourie and @Andrew Jules — great to have you with us! 🎉 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 This past week has been filled with those everyday moments that remind us exactly why South Africa is lekker. From Spur breakfasts and braais…to little surprises like Jelly Tots and coffee tucked into parcels… It’s not about the big things — it’s about the moments that make you smile, the people you share them with, and the stories that come from it 💛 💛 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 & 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 One of our favourite moments this week? Meeting Pascalina at the dry cleaners. Just a normal errand that turned into something unforgettable — because that’s the beauty of South Africa… the people. MOST PEOPLE LOVE FOOD (ESPECIALLY A LEKKER BRAAI!)
They cook, try new recipes, and share meals with friends — but when it comes to putting that experience into words, they get stuck. They post something online, maybe a recipe or a photo, and then… nothing really happens. No audience, no traction, and definitely no income. What most people don’t realise is that the difference isn’t the food — it’s the writing.
