Challenge! Show Up & Create
Most artists don’t fail because of talent. They disappear. So let’s fix that. New challenge: Show Up & Create → 3x per week→ for 30 days→ post whatever you made (finished or messy) Rules: - No perfection - No overthinking - Just proof you showed up - Miss a day? Don’t quit. Just continue. This is about becoming someone who creates. Not someone who waits. I’m in too. Who’s joining?

@Phill Hatton Here we go, I transferred a couple of images to the canvas. It goes with the Summer piece, both representing Andalucía, where I’m originally from. One represents water and the other represents dry land and terral (local heat wave). Please community! Send some feedback my way!! Gracias

@Rachel Hill thanks so much for your touching and kind words. Little by little, day by day. Please share some of your collages, I’d love to see them! Kindly, Guadalupe

It’s incomplete though I may have done my best already. Not sure whether it’d look better or worse if I keep adding up to it. I’m thinking of turning it into a mixed media by adding an image transfer. 🤔

@Elke Distelrath thanks so much for your feedback. I’m feeling stuck, as usually at this point. I’m a self trained who lacks technical knowledge so I feel intimidated when I reach this point. The idea you brought up sounds VERY interesting, trying on an iPad first would help significantly. Is there a specific app that you would use for this? Thanks a lot.

Hello Everyone. I'm new to the group and new to calling myself an artist. It's taken a lifetime for me to finally prioritise and value being creative. Discouraged by everyone as a teenager, I gave up drawing entirely and took up a career in banking. Resurrecting my love for art fell to the bottom of a massive "to do" list and never got a chance. Through a mixture of happy and sad life changes, I finally found the time and motivation to get started again in 2020. I kept it secret at first, and didn't show anyone what I was doing. Once I did, I got commissions and did a few pieces. Then one nightmare "customer" gave cruel comments and refused to pay for the portrait I'd done for him. It really got to me and I stopped drawing again, for another 2 years. But now I'm back, and this time I'm not letting anyone stop me. It's taken 60 years for me to find the time, the space and most of all the courage. That is far too long, but still better late than never. I can't wait to see what everyone is up to in this group, and to hear about your journeys. As a gesture of faith I'm sharing the portrait that the unhappy client rejected. If I can share that, I can share anything!!! Here goes......

Hi Emma, thanks so much for sharing your personal journey. Your story is inspiring, and I relate to it in many ways. Your drawing is also inspirational, you can sense the “kitty’s wildness”. Absolutely the client’s loss. Thanks again for sharing.
